New York: The 00s

New York: The 00s For some of us, the best part of this time of year is the lists: best of (even more when they're meta), worst of, top-selling, favorites, and anything else that can be list-ified. The end of a decade means even more bounty in this department. New York joined the party this week with their 00s cover commissions. Covers and slideshow after the jump...

New York tells us:
[We] invited several graphic designers to illustrate "00s" however they wanted for this week's cover story on the decade now drawing to a close. Two were selected for the cover: Todd St. John of Hunter Gatherer's for subscribers, above, and from Fellow Designers, a newsstand cover here:

Another design, from David Carson is featured on the magazine page opening the "aughts" section:

The rest, and some making-of for the two printed covers, can be seen on the table of contents page (below) and in a slideshow here.

Hey! You've probably got some NEW WORK to share, and we want to see it! We'll welcome anything that's gone to the printer recently, something you're especially proud of and think might be inspiring to the membership and readers of Grids. We'll note the credits and the publication and shine a little light on the latest and greatest in publication design.

Please reduce your layouts to no larger than 1200 pixels wide and don't forget to include all relevant credits and a little background (if you feel like). Send your submissions to tips@spd.org and we'll post them as we get them.

There is still 1 more year left in the decade (2010)...how are the "best of decade" lists creeping up so early??
