The first winner was 2wice, art directed by Abbott Miller. SPD 49 Co-Chairs Announced!

SPD 49 Co-Chairs Announced!

The Society of Publication Designers is delighted to announce the co-chairs for SPD 49, the world's most prestigious publication design competition. Taking the lead as Print Co-Chairs are Alex Grossman, Creative Director - Bon Appétit, and Cybele Grandjean, Partner - Ligature.

Alex redesigned and repositioned Bon Appétit when he came on board in 2011, earning him a Medal Finalist honor for MOY at most recent SPD Gala (our highest award). While focused on the monthly print and tablet editions, he is involved with all aspects of the visual presence. Prior to joining Bon Appétit, he worked at Lloyd&Co and AR New York, where his clients included the iconic american fashion labels Banana Republic, Eddie Bauer, as well as the international luxury brand Moët & Chandon.

Cybele is a partner at Ligature (ligaturenyc.com), a design studio based in New York City.  Most recently, Cybele and her team completed a redesign of Martha Stewart Living debuting with its July/August 2013 issue.  Previously, she worked on the relaunch of Condé Nast's Brides magazine. As Creative Director, she worked closely with the Brides art and editorial teams to reinvent the magazine.

We are also proud to announce our Digital Co-Chairs:  Scher Foord, Executive Director of Design - Condé Nast Technology and Ken Olling, Founder & Creative Director - Katachi.

Scher oversees Condé Nast's user experience for web, mobile web and app products.  She previously worked at Time Inc. as Special Projects Director for the Style and Entertainment Group.  She was a Digital Co-chair for SPD 47, and we had to have her back. While Ken, based in Oslo, Norway, is pushing the limits with Katachi, an iPad magazine focused on global design culture, that won SPD's App of the Year for 2012!

We are gearing up for all your submissions.  The Call for Entries for SPD 49 is coming to your inbox soon, really soon!
