Photo Intern

Meredith Integrated Marketing is seeking an energetic Photo intern to work in their New York office for Fall 2011 semester. The ideal candidate is an individual who can muti-task in a fast-paced environment. They need to be organized, motivated, and detail-oriented. Proficiency in Adobe creative suite is great. Positive can do atitude is a must! Interns will work closely with the Photo department to assist in day-to-day administrative tasks as well as production for photo shoots. PHOTO DEPARTMENT FALL 2011 INTERNSHIP / SCHOOL CREDIT ONLY

New York Magazine is offering an unpaid internship in the photography department for school credit only. We are looking for someone organized, dedicated and excited to learn how a photo department at a weekly magazine operates. Interns should be very comfortable and effective communicating over the phone, in person, and via e-mail. Experience researching images with stock agencies a plus but not required. Photography, art communications majors or an interest in photography and editing preferred. Interns should have a strong work ethic, be able to work independently, as well as take directions and work as part of a team. Intern responsibilities include some general administrative duties, photo researching, maintaining photo archives, scouting, assisting on photo shoots, assisting in our photographers studio and maintaining the props closet, calling in products, logging-in and returning artwork, being a contributing member during creative meetings, and possibly undertaking some photography assignments if skills permit. -2 days per week minimum -Starting immediately through December Please email cover letter and resume to art.jobs@nymag.com

Men's Journal Photo Intern

Men's Journal Magazine is seeking end of Summer and Fall 2011 interns (starting as early as August) to provide creative and administrative support in the Photo Department of its New York City based office. Candidates should be able to work 20-30 hours per week. The internship is unpaid but will grant academic credit and an opportunity to be a full participant in the creative department of a national magazine. Daily tasks will include: photo research, production assistance, buying props and general administrative duties. Interns should be organized, be able to take initiative and possess a good phone manner. Interest in photograph is a major plus!

The photo intern will have the opportunity to work with a fun staff while learning all the ins-and-outs of photo production. Candidates must be detail oriented and possess solid communication skills. Good Housekeeping 2011 Fall Art/Design Internship

Good Housekeeping Magazine is looking for a 2011 Fall ART INTERN. Good Housekeeping Fall Photo Intern

Good Housekeeping, a magazine of Hearst Corporation, is looking for a Fall photo intern for the Fall 2011 semester. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and very educational. Interns will learn about the daily activities of a large-scale magazine. This includes publishing, photo editing, photo research, and photo shoots (and much more). Interns will be primarily responsible for helping the photo team do photo research. However, interns will also be able to visit the in-house studio and go to photo shoots with the editors. In addition, the photo intern will assist the editors in various administrative tasks including contact with photographers worldwide. Art Director, UCLA

The Art Director leads the in-house design team responsible for the design and production of the quarterly UCLA Magazine, as well as design projects and marketing campaigns for clients on campus. Projects include invitations and brochures, newspaper and magazine ads, admissions packets, signs and banners, and other marketing materials. While the emphasis is on print, some campaigns include a web or email component. On the magazine, the Art Director will work with the Design Director and Senior Designer to conceptualize and commission photography and illustration, design stories, and oversee the entire pre-press and proofing process. Successful candidates should have at least five years experience with the day-to-day workflow of magazines and significant hands-on experience with art directing photo shoots and illustration assignments. Also requires a sophisticated mastery of typography and graphic design techniques, primarily using Adobe Creative Suite on the Macintosh platform, to create and supervise the creation of effective materials.

Senior Designer - Cooking Light

We are looking for a DESIGNER for the BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA office who would be working for the new Creative Director in NYC and with the Art Director in Alabama. A minimum of 3 years magazine editorial design experience is required. This individual should be interested in food, nutrition and human interest stories. The perfect candidate has a strong sense of classic typography and knows a beautiful, stylish and delicious food photograph when they see one. This designer would be helping us refine the recent redesign and push the magazines visuals to new heights. They would also be creating dynamic and fresh layouts for the front and back of book, assigning illustration, and art directing some photoshoots. We need a very responsible person and who would pay serious attention to detail. Expert knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and illustrator is required.

Freelance Online Supplement Art Director/Designer- Immediate

Details.com has an immediate freelance opening for a combo art director/designer able to take charge of the look for our online supplement to our September issue. The candidate will be responsible for the overall visual look of the issue working in collaboration with DETAILS Design Director and Creative Director.
The candidate should be proficient in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and must possess great attention to detail, as well as a strong sensibility of type and image. This candidate should also be familiar with web conventions for creating content for Details.com.

Art Production Associate

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is currently seeking an Art Production Associate to join the Martha Stewart team. This position is responsible for working on Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine, Whole Living Magazine, and with the Special Projects Group. Under the guidance of the Managing Editors and Design Directors, and working along with the Art and Edit teams, the Art Production Associate will play an integral part in the workflow and production on a daily basis. Responsibilities: Work with the art team to tighten layouts for the release of composed pages. Implement the design standards established by the art team using the current production guidelines. Work closely with the editorial staff during all phases of the type workflow. Requirements: 4+ years' production experience in a magazine environment. Expertise in CS4/CS5 is essential. Must be highly proficient in InDesign Must have a knowledge of the printing process and preparing clean files for proper printing Working knowledge of the K4 system is helpful. Photoshop and Illustrator experience is helpful Must be skilled at tightening layouts, linking images, and creating articles. Should have and meticulous type closing skills: kerning and ragging. Should have experience working in an editorial team, with editors and art directors. An interest in the MSLO content areas is a plus: cooking, decorating, crafts, entertaining, etc.
