Production Coordinator/Editorial Designer

22nd Century Media, LLC, has an immediate opening for a full-time in-house production coordinator/editorial designer. This position will focus on coordinating and assisting with the editorial design of our 14 community newspapers, production of annual community guides for local chambers of commerce, coordinating file delivery/proofing with print vendors, and assisting with the production of marketing material and other projects as requested. Associate Creative Director - Marketing Print & Digital

The Associate Creative Director of Marketing for Print and Digital is responsible for the management and supervision of staff as well as the design and development of user interface deliverables and artwork including print materials for SourceMedia marketing, Marketing Solutions Group and Conferences Group. Fall 2014 Intern

AARP Media, in Washington D.C., is currently seeking an art department intern for Fall 2014. Candidates must be senior level undergrad or grad students with print design skills enrolled in a fine arts or communications design program. Interest in typography, conceptual imaging skills and ipad design are a must. Candidates will work directly with the art directors in the design and production of pages to run in the magazine as well as help sending out award submissions. The intern will also be working with the magazines photo editors to provide administrative support, learn effective techniques for researching high-quality imagery and gain experience in how photography assignments are directed. Other duties will include maintaining the editorial wall and participating in art meetings. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and proficiency in MAC, Creative Suite (especially Indesign and Photoshop) and some knowledge of DPS. S/He should be enthusiastic and have the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines. We are looking for someone that is proactive and takes initiative on problem-solving issues. The candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, an excellent communicator and team player. Schedule is flexible, but candidates should be able to devote at least 32-40 hours per week. Houstonia magazine has a rare opening for a designer to work as part of a two-person art team at the top-selling city/regional publication in America's fourth-largest city. We are looking for a Associate Art Director with a strong aesthetic sensibility, a detail-oriented designer with a bold creative vision and a proven track record as a team player. Working directly with the Design Director, you will need a high level of design sophistication, a keen eye for photography, and exceptional typography skills, as this designer is responsible for designing editorial layouts for narrative and service features and regularly appearing departments. You will also be making assignments for photographers and illustrators, as well as editing and color-correcting photos. 3 to 5 years of design experience at a consumer magazine is a must, as is proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator and the ability to multitask and work with deadlines. Hands-on illustration ability is a big plus and web skills -- including design, video, and interactive media -- are also preferred, but not necessary.
