Features Designer (Full Time- NY, NY)

We are seeking a motivated Features Designer to join our team in a face-paced, deadline driven environment! Position will focus mainly designing NYP feature sections, but may include work on stand-alone fashion/lifestyle section, ALEXA. Day to day responsibilities will have an emphasis on print design, with opportunities for digital projects as well. Key Responsibilities: • Design for various sections of the paper, with emphasis on features and special sections. • Execute designs that are sophisticated and forward looking, displaying a strong sense of content. • Proactively approach daily and weekly projects, developing smart solutions for telling stories visually. • Work collaboratively with editors, photo editors, and other designers. • Work within both daily and weekly deadlines. • Ensure adherence to established style guidelines for all assignments. • Work on digital design projects as needed.

Associate Art Director - Portland

SagaCity Media has an opening in its Portland office for an Associate Art Director to work in our Custom, Mountain, and/or Bridal divisions. Associate Art Director

The Associate Art Director will join our Custom team to help develop and produce art content--publication design, photography, illustration, and layouts--for several of SagaCity's Custom clients.

Art Director

SagaCity Media has an opening in its Seattle office for an art director to work in our Custom Media division. The art director will join our Custom team to help develop and produce art content--publication design, photography, illustration, and layouts--for several of SagaCity's Custom clients. Duties include: working with the creative team to set a vision for publications; assigning, producing, or sourcing photography and illustrations; designing magazine pages; developing maps, charts, and other information graphics; and managing freelance art relationships and project budgets. The candidate must have the ability to conceive and execute original designs, a keen eye for photography, exceptional typography skills, and fastidious attention to detail. The candidate must also be able to work effectively in daily collaboration with internal editorial, production, and design teams, and must maintain close working relationships with external clients. Candidates should be comfortable managing projects from end to end, including presenting and acting as the design point person to external clients, creating comprehensive schedules, and other tasks as needed to ensure all project milestones are met.

Junior Graphic Designer

Observer Media is seeking a junior designer to join its art and production department to art direct and layout the Commercial Observer, a weekly newspaper covering the commercial real estate industry and help with the designing of the New York Observer, New York's premier weekly newspaper. This position will report to the Creative Director and will work closely with the editors of Commercial Observer and the photo department, from concept to postproduction, making sure to meet brand standards and timelines to design the newspaper, commission illustration, create info graphics, charts and great looking pages on a weekly basis. Also, laying out a weekly online newsletter is part of the job and some digital work as well.

Art Director- Nexos Magazine

We are currently seeking an experienced Art Director to join our team in Miami. Nexos, with a circulation of 11.7 million, is the only Spanish- and Portuguese- language magazine that connects North and South America, with links to the rest of the world. Found exclusively on American Airlines' Pan-Latin flights, Nexos focuses on Latin celebrities, events, shopping, fashion, cuisine, real estate and lifestyle, all with a sleek, elegant design. It's vital that the candidate be fluent in English and Spanish. As well designing the bi-monthly magazine, there would additional work on sales collateral. The Role - Lead the creative vision of the magazine, organize photo shoots, commission artwork. - Work with the Editor of Nexos in the planning and production of the title. - Co-ordinate with the American Airlines Design Director in Dallas, as well as the head office in London. - Liaise with the client when needed. - Adhere to the deadlines and budget set for the title. - Ensure that the work is of the highest standard.

This is a unique opportunity to be a part of building a media brand from the ground up, including how it will appear on all platforms, and the style of its photography, illustration, graphic design, and video and motion graphics. This position will work closely with section editors, and will manage a team of designers and photo editors. The right candidate will be a passionate creative who knows how to communicate, conceptualize, design, create treatments, and execute high quality motion graphics. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (CC 2014 specifically)--with a large emphasis on After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on deadline in a fast-paced environment. The designer will be responsible for designing daily pages and interactive projects as well as creating illustrations. The designer should be a self-starter who is able to think creatively and provide visual solutions to enhance our storytelling. Esquire Magazine Art Department Fall Intern

Esquire Magazine (Hearst Corporation) is seeking a junior or senior graphic design student for an internship in the Art Department for the fall of 2015. The intern will assist in the daily workflow of the magazine. Duties will include: updating layouts, minor imaging work, and some design. Candidates should have an interest in magazine publishing, strong working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop and most importantly, is eager to learn. Applicants are required to receive college credit for the internship. You must turn in a letter on college letterhead stating you will be receiving credit for the internship. The letter must be signed by a professor, advisor, or the registrar. This position is unpaid. A commitment of at least 2 full days a week is required, from 10 am to 6 pm (flexible).
