Fortune Magazine is looking for a full-time freelance assistant photo editor at Fortune.com with a keen interest in journalism to support senior photo staff with administrative and other miscellaneous magazine photo department tasks. Duties include: researching, cropping, sizing and optimizing images for print and web usage; basic administrative skills; captioning, preparing and loading images into our content management system. Graphic Designer and Producer

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) seeks an experienced, talented graphic designer and producer of visual content to join our accomplished communications team for the Maryland Sea Grant College (MDSG), located in College Park, MD. UMCES, a research institution, administers MDSG, which supports scientific research, education, and outreach focused on restoring and preserving the Chesapeake Bay and Maryland's coastal and watershed resources. The designer will join our communications staff of four professionals who produce high-quality print, video, and web-based content to advance MDSG's mission and inform the general public and targeted professional audiences. Family Circle Design Intern Winter/Spring 16

Family Circle magazine is looking for an enthusiastic intern for the art department. We are seeking someone who is available 21 hours a week this winter and spring. The intern will attend department meetings, will work closely with the designers and photo editors to design front of book and back of book pages, and will also assist with photo research, circulating layouts, updating mini boards, and a few administrative tasks. The candidate will assist the department in conceptualizing its direction for the future and will be able to assist the Department in shaping and driving the changes needed for the associate and BFA degree programs. Strong preference will be given to those candidates exhibiting experience and understanding of higher education. It is expected that this new faculty member will have an active information design practice and record of utilizing design to promote sustainability and/or social justice. The new faculty member will be expected to have the relevant, terminal degree in design, an MFA, March, MDes, MS, etc. Experience in teaching information design at all levels in a college setting is required as is some familiarity with curricular development, cross-disciplinary emphasis, and utilization of technology and innovation in teaching.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in information design, digital design, graphic design, or related fields. Minimum of three (3) years of post-secondary teaching experience (inclusive of design-related administrative roles such as Director or Coordinator positions). A minimum of six (6) years of high level professional experience in the specialized field of information design. Experience in data visualization and ability to create in multiple media and formats. A strong design portfolio that demonstrates an understanding of current design trends, concepts, and technology is essential.

Master's degree preferred.

Family Circle Art Intern - Winter/Spring 16

Family Circle magazine is looking for an enthusiastic intern for the art department. We are seeking someone who is available 21 hours a week this winter/spring. The intern will attend department meetings, will work closely with the designers and photo editors to design front of book and back of book pages, and will also assist with photo research, circulating layouts, updating mini boards, and a few administrative tasks. The ideal candidate must be very organized, have excellent communication skills, a strong knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, and have the ability to work in MS Office programs. This is a hands-on experience to learn how a magazine is developed. This internship is paid and also accepts students who need school credit.
