Los Angeles magazine is seeking an experienced, creative, and collaborative Photography Director in our Los Angeles office. The Photo Director's responsibilities will include idea collaboration, planning, and executing the magazine's photography. We are looking for a highly collaborative individual who enjoys new challenges and the art of magazine making. You will pitch and produce top-quality photo shoots, including fashion and photo-journalism, as well as oversee the research of stock photography. You will work in conjunction with editors and art directors to make a visually exciting editorial product. You will hire photographers to help bring a fresh eye to the diverse content and pages of Los Angeles magazine. You will set up and produce all photo shoots-- which include booking studios, photographers, models, and stylists--as well as keep on budget and maintain the monthly Art budget. The ideal candidate is: • An expert in presenting people, lifestyle, food, and fashion images that tell the rich visual story of L.A. • Strong with conceptual photography, has a creative spirit and "Can Do" attitude. Art Assistant / Afar Magazine SF

AFAR Media is seeking an eager and enthusiastic art assistant to support the three tiers of the art department; design, photo and digital, with the majority of their projects and responsibilities supporting design and about a quarter spent supporting digital and photo. Art/Design Department Spring Intern

Editorialist is looking for design interns who will be ready to begin by January. Designer, American Airlines Magazines, Miami

American Airlines, the world's largest airline, has a new exciting opportunity for a talented designer, working on American Way and Celebrated Living, run out of Ink's Miami office. Winter 2017 Art Intern

Looking for a WINTER 2017 Art Intern, starting January through March. Assist Design Director and Art Directors in our busy art department to develop our award winning monthly city magazine. Layout design, photo research, typeface research, illustration research, idea conceptualization, photo retouching, photo shoots, department organization, etc. are examples of daily tasks. Intern will also attend staff meetings. This is an unpaid internship but can receive school credit if needed. Free parking.

Designer: This Old House magazine

This Old House magazine is looking for a designer to work in our Stamford, Connecticut office.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Designing front-of-book departments and stories for This Old House magazine, working with the marketing department to create native advertising and other projects, designing for our website and other digital platforms, and creating brand identity materials.

This is not an entry-level job, but is perfect for someone who wants to work in a multi-platform situation with a wide variety of design projects. We're a small company, so everyone truly does everything. There's lots of room to grow and lots of work to be done. This Old House is located on the waterfront in Stamford, Connecticut. AARP Media Internship

AARP Media, in Washington D.C., is currently seeking an art department intern for Spring and/or Summer 2017. Candidates must be senior level undergrad or grad students with print design skills enrolled in a fine arts or communications design program. Should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Interest in typography, conceptual imaging skills and ipad design are a must. Candidates will work directly with the art directors in the design and production of pages to run in the magazine as well as help sending out award submissions. The intern will also be working with the magazines photo editors to provide administrative support, learn effective techniques for researching high-quality imagery and gain experience in how photography assignments are directed. Other duties will include maintaining the editorial wall and participating in art meetings. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and proficiency in MAC, Creative Suite (especially Indesign and Photoshop) and some knowledge of DPS. S/He should be enthusiastic and have the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines. We are looking for someone that is proactive and takes initiative on problem-solving issues. The candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, an excellent communicator and team player. Schedule is flexible, but candidates should be able to devote at least 32-40 hours per week.

People Magazine Photo Intern

Photography Intern
 
People Magazine is seeking an intern for the photo department in our NYC office to work closely with the Photography Director and photo staff. This is a full-time, temporary (3 months) position. The ideal candidate should posses enthusiasm for photography and magazines with strong organizational and administrative skills.
 
Responsibilities Include:
 
- Undertake photo research for several pages that appear in the magazine
and iPad each week
- Schedule daily art, photo and edit layout meetings
- Set up new vendors in our accounting system and follow through to make sure the payments    are processed and troubleshoot any issues
- Complete and submit expenses for the photo director
- Maintain the photo director's calendar
- Set up meetings with photographers to review their portfolios
