Designer/art director
(temporary, full-time position) Chicago Magazine is seeking a talented, freelance designer/art director. This person will work closely with both art and edit teams to produce a wide range of editorial content. Duties will include designing front and back of book sections of the magazine, occasional features, directing photoshoots and hiring illustrators. Candidates must have editorial experience and possess a high level of design sophistication, a keen eye for photography, illustration, and have exceptional typography skills. Design Internship, SLAM Magazine

SLAM is the No. 1 outlet in the world of basketball. We cover all things hoop-related--from NBA, college ball, and high school hoops to old-school stories, kicks, streetball, and the fashion of the game. We are seeking an enthusiastic design intern to assist in the layout and production of our print magazine and to contribute to our website and social media graphics.
Candidates must be able to earn college credit from the internship position. This position is based in New York City.
Responsibilities include:
-Create custom graphics for social media
-Prepare/size photos for online and social media formats
-Perform photo research
-Prepare magazine files for pre-press
-Occasionally design magazine pages under the direction of the Creative Director
-Assist the Creative Director with daily assigned tasks
Requirements:
-Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
-Excellent sense of page layout and design
-Strong typographic skills
-Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills
-Eagerness to learn, enthusiasm and an easy-going attitude
-Must be currently working towards a BA or certificate from a Graphic Design or Fine Arts program or a related field
-Photography skills are a plus

Responsibilities; This role works in collaboration and reports to the Chief Creative and Marketing Officer to: Concept, develop and execute innovative design for food and beverage vendors within our markets while keeping to budgets and deadlines. Ensure excellence in all designed work that maintains company brand standards are met and are consistent. Partner with construction team and market project managers specifying FF&E requirements (purchasing lead times, finishes and budgets) and space planning. Overall project management; can manage budgets and schedules that meet scope objectives.
