Motion Graphics Designer, Cosmopolitan Snapchat

  • Job Description: is looking for a lightening fast Motion Graphics Designer to help enrich the visual identity of its channel on Snapchat Discover. This position will report to the Managing Editor of Snapchat Discover, and will work closely with a team of designers and editors to create short-form visual animated graphics that further the storytelling of's content and elevate the brand aesthetic. The designer will be responsible for working within the site's branding guidelines to ensure all content is consistent, but they will also be expected to bring platform appropriate creativity and personality to each edition. Candidates should have a portfolio that showcases their talents as a motion designer with an excellent skill eye for good design and typography in the social media landscape. Illustration skills are a PLUS! RESPONSIBILITIES - Create short-form motion graphics, animations, illustrations and GIFs ‪- Design/Concept/Animate 2D and 3D motion graphics for topsnaps on a daily basis - Work on projects from concept to production, making sure we meet brand standards and timelines - ‪Continually research and brainstorm creative ideas, styles, and trends in motion design - Collaborate across creative teams and provide ideas in brainstorming meetings - Be on call to design for special weekend events (i.e. major award shows) REQUIREMENTS - 1-2+ years of motion design graphics experience ‪- Background in motion design with exceptional eye for good design and typography - Knowledge of multiple video and motion graphics workflows - Fluency in Adobe CS 6 Production - - Premium software, including After Effects, - Photoshop and Premiere - Strong understanding of color profile management for video - Exceptional organizational and project management skills - Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in dealing with multiple priorities and timelines - Ability to efficiently work both independently and as part of a team environment - Deep understanding for the Cosmo brand and reader and a love of fashion, beauty, food and celebrity content. - Familiarity with Internet humor, memes, pop culture, social trends - Excellent at producing shareable, digital-friendly web and mobile content - Obsessive knowledge of the motion design landscape and keen understanding of the competition - Positive attitude!
