Art Director

ALIVE seeks a full-time Art Director to join its team. The role will ultimately be responsible for the creative planning, layout and pre-press duties of ALIVE's print publication, with responsibility for photography assignments, photo shoot coordination, intern management and layout of all editorial pages. The role requires very strong project management skills and a desire to create a consistently top-notch product from month to month. Responsibilities include: • Design of all editorial pages of the magazine, and/or delegation of design to student interns • Conceptualize feature layouts and photography direction with editors • Assignment of all photography and illustrations to freelance contributors for department pages and features • Coordination/execution of photo shoots--hiring of crew, scheduling, location scouting with photographers, day-of coordination • Oversight of branding materials for events • Hire and oversee graphic design and photography interns • Manage event photography schedule for coverage by our street team • Hire freelance photographers and illustrators • Manage monthly art budget • Procure and style props for shoots as needed • Oversee uploading of magazine to printer to bring magazine to press • Oversee web graphics production, digital issue upload to the site and online photo galleries
