Boston magazine is looking for a design director who will be responsible for the overall look of the Boston magazine brand, spanning print, digital, and social media. S/he will collaborate with, supervise, and inspire a three-person art staff to create a magazine each month that is visually inviting, provocative, and appealing to a broad audience. S/he will also oversee the home design quarterly and the twice-annual weddings magazine. Job responsibilities include: • Creating original layouts for the magazine's features and departments • Working closely with the editors to conceive and execute eye-catching covers • Leading brainstorming sessions, suggesting heds and deks, and developing story and package ideas • Cultivating and nurturing a deep roster of contributing photographers, illustrators, and graphic artists • Directing photo shoots as appropriate • Mentoring a young and eager team of in-house designers.

Deputy Art Director

Boston magazine is currently seeking an experienced, motivated, and talented Deputy Art Director to join its art team. The candidate will have a chance to make an impact on our award-winning suite of publications: Boston magazine, Boston Home, and Boston Weddings.The qualified candidate should have a sophisticated design sense, strong grasp of typography, great attention to detail, and possess the ability to manage a project from conception to completion. He/she should be able to work on a small team, and be very deadline-oriented.
