Chicago magazine is seeking a dynamic Design Director to lead the visual direction of this 44-year-old brand across all platforms: an award-winning monthly print magazine, a popular and fast-growing website, and a recently relaunched tablet app. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced and creative environment, leading a sharp and talented staff to create powerful visual content in a city full of great stories.

Responsibilities:
•Lead visual direction of brand across all platforms, as well as take lead role in visual branding as it relates to all marketing and promotional materials.
•Lead four-person design staff (including photo editor), coaching their development and creative growth. In addition, hire and develop freelance talent as needed.
•Develop and set standards for photography, illustration and graphic storytelling.
•Manage freelance and photography budgets.
•Take active role in brand strategy and growth
•Lead development of any and all new products as they relate to brand expansion.
