Variety seeks a passionate and talented full-time Designer to collaborate with the creative team on its redesigned and re-imagined weekly magazine. Despite being a 109-year-old brand, Variety's weekly is a magazine very much in a phase of high potential and evolution. The position must hit the ground running, ready to work primarily on designing front and back of book sections, features, assign illustration and collaborate with editors. We seek energy and intelligence in the candidate's work, which is key to our book and lends itself well to our editorial team's in-depth news and analytical approach. Attention to detail and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is required. Qualifications: · Works well both independently and collaboratively · A positive attitude and a strong work ethic · Develop original design concepts and deliver polished visual designs · Highly organized and able to prioritize · At least 2 years of experience in consumer publishing · Able to thrive in a fast-paced and highly creative environment · Agility in collaborating closely with art, photo and editorial staffs Job Responsibilities: · Designing front and back of the book pages · Designing features · Assigning illustration · Working with editors on content generation · Continued evolution of design and brand
