Freelance Art Director/ Senior Designer

Rodale's Organic Life is currently seeking a motivated and talented Designer to join this newly launched magazine. This position is a unique opportunity to be hands on with the innovative organic living content. The candidate will be an extraordinary designer who can work collaboratively with the Creative director. The position is located in New York City OR Emmaus, PA. Responsibilities include: • Working closely with the Creative designing front and back-of-book sections • Assisting with ongoing assignments such as scanning and updating the art room wall with current layouts and updating all layouts for the review book • Assigning illustrations, as directed The position requires • Strong design and typography skills • Relentless attention to detail • Organization, integrity, and the ability to effectively manage multiple design projects • Fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and K4 • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

Art Director

Rodale is currently seeking an experienced, motivated and talented Art Director to join the launch of Organic Life magazine's art team and to contribute his/her skills to developing the overall vision for the brand in the magazine format. The candidate will be a self starter, have a collaborative work style, positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment. The position is freelance and is located in Emmaus, PA. Responsibilities include: • Working closely with the Creative Director, designing features, departments and service packages. • Assist the creative team in continuously evolving the magazine's design, planning and executing feature layouts, assigning illustration and working with the production and pre-press staffs • Concept ideas and visuals for all sections of the book, with focus on particular areas as directed by Creative Director. • Working collaboratively with editors and outside contributors in order to ensure full understanding and accurate representation of story ideas and information • Create exciting info-graphics, charts, logos, small illustrations, and visual explanations. • Effectively implement strong type sensibility, excellent aptitude for visual story telling as well as service packaging and a passion for what is going on within the design world.
