Art Director
SagaCity Media's Seattle Office has an immediate opening for an art director to work on a range of award-winning travel-related publications dedicated to exceptional editorial and design.
The Art Director will set and maintain standards for all art content--design, photography, illustration and layout--for a number of SagaCity's regional tourism clients, and potentially other publications as well. Duties include setting a creative vision for publications; assigning, producing or sourcing photography and illustration; designing magazine pages; and developing maps, charts and other information graphics. The candidate must have the ability to conceive and execute original designs, a keen eye for photography, exceptional typography skills and fastidious attention to detail. The art director must be able to work with external clients, manage workflow with firm deadlines, and work in daily collaboration with internal editorial and production teams.
Experience: Qualified candidates must have at least 5 years of experience art directing or designing for travel, national, or regional consumer publications and demonstrable experience managing budgets, directing photo shoots and creating magazine templates. The ideal candidate will be zealous about producing compelling and innovative editorial design that showcases the hidden and not-so-hidden charms of the Pacific Northwest.
Skills: Education and technical background must include expert skills in Adobe Creative Suite, extensive knowledge and stylish use of type, photography, and illustration. Best candidates will have a bachelor's degree in graphic design or similar field and bring outstanding conceptual and organizational skills to a fast-paced workplace.
