San Antonio Magazine has recently redesigned, and we have an immediate opening for a talented Associate Art Director. This position will office in Austin, Texas, and will report directly to an Art Director based in Austin. We're a growing, vibrant city magazine seeking a design pro with 2 to 5 years of experience in an editorial environment where creative thinking, problem-solving and multitasking are essential skills. To put it bluntly, we value team players who are dedicated to creating a superior product every month - no matter what their job title is. The Associate Art Director will play a key role in the overall look of the San Antonio Magazine brand and will be responsible for all layout and design aspects of San Antonio Magazine. This includes editorial creative: front and back of book, features and departments. Responsibilities also include working with the Photo Director to nurture and cultivate a deep roster of contributing photographers, illustrators and graphic artists; photo assigning, stock research, and assistance with photo shoots; and idea brainstorming. Duties may also include miscellaneous marketing collateral for the magazine, ensuring a consistent look and feel across the brand. Other essentials: • A clean, crisp and modern design aesthetic. • A mastery of typography • The ability to maintain consistency of design throughout each issue. • Advanced, working knowledge of CS5 or higher on a Mac platform. • Superior communication skills and a friendly, can-do attitude. • The ability to work independently, while being receptive to feedback. • A passion for meeting deadlines. • Consistent attention to detail.… MORE
