Junior Designer

Scholastic's Teaching Resources art department is looking for a talented Junior Designer to join their team. The Junior Designer is responsible for supporting the Senior Designers and Creative Director in the development of a wide range of products including book covers/interiors, decorative products, boxed programs/packaging, and interactive content. The ideal candidate has: A 4 year college degree A strong work ethic A passion for the practice and culture of design An interest in illustration Excellent organizational skills The ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities The ability to remain calm and collected under pressure A very strong working knowledge of: Professional conduct e.g. courteous and timely communication File/folder structure/management in a collaborative environment Design principals, e.g. composition, color theory, etc. Typographic principals, e.g. hierarchy, kerning, hanging punctuation, etc. Adobe (particularly InDesign) e.g. master pages, stylesheets, tables, etc.
