Award-winning, technology magazine IEEE Spectrum is offering a paid (12 weeks,starting in May 2012) Photo internship in their NYC office. The ideal candidate must be creative with excellent communications and organizational skills. A strong interest in photography, magazines and technology is a must. Responsibilities will include photo research, silhouetting photos for print and apps, color correction and retouching. The candidate will work with the Photo Editor and Senior Art Director. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop required. Previous internship experience and web skills a huge plus. Candidate must be available to commit a minimum of 25 hours a week and either be enrolled in a college degree program where he or she has maintained a passing grade point average or have graduated and be within twelve months of that graduation from an accredited college or university.

Deputy Art Director

Freelance Art Direction

IEEE Spectrum, a leading science and technology magazine, is searching for freelance art directors to periodically work on creating layouts for its print features and online projects. Under the direction of the Senior Art Director, freelance art directors will create compelling designs and provide art direction as needed to illustrators and photographers. Will also require phone interaction with editorial staff as well as art department staff. Work is to be created off-site and at an hourly or project fee.
