PalmSpringsStyle.com is launching a new print magazine this fall, geared toward the modern visitor to and resident of Palm Springs: design-conscious, fashion-forward, well-traveled professionals and creatives who appreciate the history of Palm Springs as Hollywood's playground during the 1950s and 60s and the unparalleled concentration of mid-century modern architecture and design, as well as the current "renaissance" of the area with events like the Coachella music festival and the influx of well-designed hotels and chef-driven restaurants. We are working with a great printer and distributor who produces most of the top independent magazines in the US and Canada. We are seeking a designer to assist with all facets of the magazine design and pre-production. The ideal candidate would be located in Palm Springs area, but we know that the odds of this are (very) slim, and therefore we are open to considering individuals located elsewhere in Southern California (Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, etc.) who can work remotely the majority of the time with the ability to come to Palm Springs for periodic meetings/workdays. Freelance to start, on a per-issue basis. Requirements: - Experience designing magazines and/or other publications, with a passion for publication design - Fluency in InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator - Familiarity with pre-press standards - Modern design aesthetic - Eye for typography - Ability to adhere to deadlines - Good communication skills
