"AZ," an interactive tablet magazine powered by The Arizona Republic, azcentral.com and 12 News, is seeking a dynamic designer with an eagerness to explore the storytelling possibilities of the tablet medium.
The designer will be one of two working on a weekly (soon twice-weekly) tablet magazine, with responsibilities including designing 8-12 features a week and working with editors to conceptualize the best visual approach on stories covering news, business, features and sports. Candidates must be skilled in InDesign using a DPS platform; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop, is preferred. Illustration, infographic and map skills are crucial, as are a positive attitude and enthusiastic work ethic. The ability to stay cool under fast-turnaround deadlines is key. Strong candidates will also possess social-media skills and be plugged into tablet and app trends.
Knowledge of AP style and a strong dislike of hyphens masquerading as em dashes are a bonus.
