Variety is currently looking for a passionate and energetic full-time Photo Editor to work with our creative team on its redesigned and re-imagined weekly magazine. Attention to detail and strong Photoshop skills are required. The Photo Editor will report to Variety's Directory of Photography. Photo editing tasks for this role will be primarily for print but may include occasional work on our digital edition, as well. Job description & Responsibilities - Commission front of book and feature photography - Manage department and work flow in Photo Director's absence Conceptualize photo shoots with Art Directors and liaise with section editors - Coordinate and assign event photography (Oscars, Emmy's, Film Festivals, etc.) - Provide thorough photo research for features and front of book sections - Source and pitch new applicable photographers - Prepare contracts for new contributors - Log weekly issue estimates and budgets - Oversee payment schedule for all vendors - Maintain and organize photo archive - Assist in basic image retouching for print and web as needed
