Atlanta magazine is looking for a Design Director, who will be responsible for the overall look of the Atlanta magazine brand--focusing on print and, to a lesser extent, on digital and social media. S/he will collaborate with, supervise, and inspire a three-person art staff to create a magazine each month that is visually inviting, provocative, sophisticated, and commercial. The design director will touch, directly or indirectly, every edit page of the magazine, from the tiniest photo credit to a 16-page service package stuffed (engagingly) with dozens of elements. Job Responsibilities: 
• Working with the editor-in-chief to conceive and execute compelling and commercial covers 
• Overseeing and implementing any future redesign of the magazine 
• Clearly and promptly communicating assignments to contributing photographers, illustrators, and graphic artists 
• Using a limited budget in creative ways 
• Working closely with different departments to ensure a timely close of each issue 
• Finding ways to tell stories graphically and in unconventional and non-linear ways 
• Leading brainstorming sessions, suggesting heds and deks, and coming up with story ideas 
• Planning, alongside the editor-in-chief and section editors, for future covers and coverage 
• Nurturing and cultivating a deep roster of contributing photographers, illustrators, and graphic artists 
• Directing photo shoots as appropriate

Job Requirements:

Art Director, Atlanta Magazine's HOME

Job Overview:

Atlanta Magazine is seeking an energetic, confident, hard working, and motivated art director to oversee the design and production of our bimonthly HOME publication.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Lead Atlanta Magazine's HOME publication through the entire design and production process for its six issues a year (finalizing lineups, assigning and art directing photo shoots, designing layouts and cover, print production, color correction, proofs)
