PopSci's art department is searching for an enthusiastic, creative, and hard-working badass to be our first-ever Digital Design Fellow. Starting in January, you'll assist in the design and production of our iPad magazine and help make our website look amazing(er). If that's not enough, we might even throw some print work your way. Job Description:
This position will report to the Creative Director and will work very closely with the editors/photo department on the daily production of the quarterly luxury print magazine and digital platform as needed. Duties include art direction for FOB features including infographic and design elements; Managing outside resources, including vendors, illustrators and designers 
This is a freelance position to start immediately through mid-March with the opportunity of full time thereafter.

Requirements: 
- At least 5-8 years as a Designer/Art Director
- Master of current digital design tools such as Adobe CS
- Creative & tasteful problem solving for relationships between image and type
- Good judgement as to what works to drive audience and engagement  
- Proven management skills 
- Can work in a fast-paced environment 
- Familiarity with pop culture, fashion, trends

FULLTIME FREELANCE EDITORIAL DESIGNER

We are looking for a full time, on-site freelance designer to help us with ongoing editorial assignments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as well as great warmth, patience and attention to detail with our clients. Position could become staff in time. You will work with senior staff, managing projects from start to end (pre-press/production/press checks). There is also a great deal of production and management skills involved. We are a small shop, and need a team member that has an ability to anticipate needs and proactively resolve issues. Clients and projects range from designing corporate newsletters, custom content for major magazines to financial and annual reports. Production Assistant/Show Coordinator

Your primary duties will be related to our juried competitions. You'll be responsible for logging in entries into our database using FilemakerPro, preparing pdfs for judging, communicating with entrants, gathering the hi-res files of the winners, sending out winner announcements requesting credits, sizing images and making tiffs of all winning entries. In addition you'll be proofreading text and other administrative duties as related to our shows. We have three shows with 3x3 and four shows with Creative Quarterly plus our twice-annual 3x3 Magazine, our quarterly magazine and annual 3x3 Directory. In addition you will be responsible for updating our database, updating our 3x3 web site with each new issue, photoshop work, answering the phones and supervising our weekly mailings of magazines and books. Hourly salary is commiserate with abilities plus we do have a transportation allowance. Hours are 10:15am to 6:15pm M-F. We're located in Brooklyn, 45 minutes from Union Square on the F/G Train. The studio is located one block from Prospect Park.
