This is a fantastic opportunity for a designer ready to move to the next step at one of the country's largest-circulation womens' magazines. We are looking for someone who is passionate about magazines in general, and women's magazines in particular.

Responsibilities include start-to-finish ownership of front-of-book and back-of-book
pages including developing smart concepts, art directing in-house photo shoots, and
producing beautifully designed production-ready layouts. The ability to work in a
collaborative environment is essential. Specific responsibilities include:

Sketching and/or comping up visual solutions and pulling swipe for art planning meetings

Propping and styling for in-house photo shoots

Attending product run-throughs and overseeing in-house shoots

Researching photos

Designing of a number of sections and reporting on their status

Acting as liaison with outside publishing companies to facilitate the redesign of GH brand books and/or packaging

Helping design logos and marks for the magazine

Coordinating the Art Department intern program

Keeping issue wall up to date; track and record department timesheets; assist Creative Director, do filing and expense reports


REQUIRED SKILLS
Very creative thinker

Expert understanding of typography and color

Expert in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator skills

K4 experience a plus

Able to juggle multiple projects at once under tight deadlines

Must have a sophisticated eye and high level of taste

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
BA in Art, Design, Communications, Journalism or related field

Must have 1-2 year minimum full- time professional experience in art department at a consumer magazine post graduation from college (not including internships)

Must have a portfolio

Woman's Day Spring 2011 Art Department Intern

Woman's Day is seeking a detail oriented intern for the Art Department this spring! Responsibilities include researching art for use in the magazine, organizing and maintaining art charts and mini walls, and learning WD design specs and procedures and how to implement them. Martha Stewart Living Editorial Design Interns (Fall Semester)
