Gai Bichler named Design Director of The New York Times Magazine

Gail Bichler announced today that she has been named Design Director of The New York Times Magazine. Bichler succeeds Rem Duplessis, who left earlier this year to join Apple as Creative Director. He replaced long-time Design Director Janet Froelich.

Todd Weinberger named Art Director at Men's Journal

moves to Men's Journal, where he has been hired as Art Director. He was formerly the Creative Director at Inked magazine, as well as a Board member of SPD. Congrats, Todd!

Peter Yates promoted at Hearst's International Group


Hearst Magazines International (HMI) named Peter Yates its new executive creative director of international branding. Peter, who has been HMI's creative director since 2009, is set to expand his role to include greater involvement with product licensing, brand extensions and the creative direction for all the company's many titles. Joe Zeff is new VP/Executive CD at ScrollMotion

SPD lifts a Bloody Mary for Joe Zeff, who is closing Joe Zeff Design and joining ScrollMotion as its Vice President/Executive Creative Director. A former SPD board member, Joe was Graphics Director of TIME magazine before opening Joe Zeff Design in 2000. His studio illustrated hundreds of magazine covers and launched digital editions of Fast Company, PC Magazine and National Geographic. Joe will manage creative teams in New York and San Diego for ScrollMotion, one of New York City's fastest-growing companies according to Crain's New York Business. Best of luck, Joe!

Marc Davila has been named Art Director at Departures Magazine.  He had been Deputy Art Director at Food Network Magazine.

Rami Moghadam now AD at Condé Nast Traveler

Rami Moghadam is the new Art Director of Condé Nast Traveler. Before joining Traveler with new Design Director Matt Willey, he freelanced for The New York Times Magazine, New York Magazine, and Bloomberg Businessweek. Prior to these freelance positions, Rami was a Senior Designer at Pentagram working for Luke Hayman on a variety of magazine redesigns, including Adweek, Golf Digest, Tennis, and Vibe.

Bernard Scharf now CD of C Publishing

Bernard Scharf is now the Creative Director of C Publishing in Santa Monica, California. C publishes C California Style, C For Men, C Weddings and C HOME. Previously he served as Creative Director of BSCD, Travel + Leisure, and Departures magazines.
