Portfolio Reviews: Event Wrap-Up
We had a terrific night Wednesday at our annual Portfolio Review event, hosted by the super-awesome website builder Wix.com! Students came in from across the local area and beyond (Pennsylvania! Indiana!) to get their one-on-one advice on how to make their portfolios job- and internship-worthy. Check out photos and commentary after the jump...-

Senior Darby Minter traveled from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania for the event and had this to say:
Everyone at the event was very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had about how to put yourself out there as a designer. It was a really great time and it made me feel better about applying for jobs, definitely glad I went.
Recent grad Stanley Collado added:
I loved the opportunity to get one on one time with Art Directors who really cared about giving me advice on improving my portfolio and landing a job. The wonderfully spacious Wix Lounge served as a great venue as well. Hands down, Student Portfolio Reviews are one of the best events SPD Student Outreach has to offer.

The students who came to Wednesday's portfolio review were eager and enthusiastic. Some of them were getting ready to present their work at school and some are getting ready for interviews, so a great idea to get their work in front of our pros! And our professionals were enjoying the reviews as well. Offering insights and tips to the students about their work, and getting jobs! And we couldn't of done it without WIX! The staff was knowledgeable, organized and I think the students learned a great deal from them. Their space was perfect for the review, I can't wait to do another one there!
A humongous thanks to Wix.com for hosting us in their super-cool Wix Lounge (it's a free co-working space by day with lots of great events at night). Students not only got reviews from our design pros, but they got hands-on help building their own online portfolios from Wix.com representative Galo Delgado.
