The Art Assistant is responsible for daily production and trafficking of layouts, Attaching and styling text, Updating the editorial wall layout,. Designing FOB and BOB pages pages for every issue, Working with the photo department and digital imaging staff to ensure all artwork is high resolution, Responding to Food Network and Hearst's requests for all required content Managing the layout archive, Meeting with editors and photo dept to manage monthly photo requests and distribute to appropriate art staff. Marketing Design Internship

NYLON Magazine is looking for a Marketing Design Intern for the Spring 2011 semester. You must be proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CS3+, and all Microsoft Office Applications.  Main responsibilities include marketing decks and proposals, creating mock-ups for print & web, occasional design work, and shadowing the Marketing and Promotions designer.  Nylon is a small, fast-paced, fun environment so you'll get experience with many different projects! You must be a strong designer with a keen eye for aesthetics and typography, as well as familiar with the NYLON publication.  We're looking for an excited intern who is a fast learner and self-motivated with a can-do attitude! Must be flexible, detail-oriented, hands-on, pro-active, and have good multi-tasking and time management skills. All candidates should be currently enrolled in a college/university (or be a recent graduate) in an Art/Design/Studio Art program, and must have access to and bring their own laptop each day. All internships are unpaid, can be for school credit, and can be for full or part-time. This is a semester-long internship that will start from January 2011 and end in May 2011. Art Director-Fresh Home Magazine

JOB SUMMARY: We are actively recruiting for a wildly imaginative art director to join the collaborative team responsible for Fresh Home magazine. Under the direction of the editor in chief and the creative director, the art director will take the lead in developing the visual style of one of the most vibrant magazines on the newsstand. While we crave ingenuity, we need you to use your left brain as well: The art director is responsible to deliver all materials to prepress and, ultimately, the printer on time. Now for the details... ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Uses Macintosh-based software to design layouts for the magazine. Maintains current knowledge of new versions of software. Participates vigorously in overall planning of the magazine. In conjunction with editors, conceptualizes each issue, from planning the look to choosing fonts and colors for covers and inside pages. Proposes direction, gets approval for that direction, and ensures the design reflects that direction. Works with freelance photographers and inhouse photo studio to set up shoots for covers, features, food, product, and other needed materials. Directs the photo studio's work on cover and interior shoots to match the look and vision established at the editorial planning meetings. Works with the photo studio to select props for photos. Makes vendor recommendations for finding materials to complete special projects. Directs the selection of stock photos and visuals to embellish stories. Scans photos when necessary. Places house and outside advertisements to suit the established roadmap or as specified by the sales team. Ensures that ads augment, not detract from edit pages. Manages the workflow and traffic between departments for each project, communicating regularly with the editor, the photo studio and the prepress department and updating each accordingly. Provides training to new employees and interns as requested. Travels as necessary to direct location shoots. Performs other duties as assigned, such as helping other departments and creating illustrations, house ads, company graphics or other corporate projects.

Digital Imaging Specialist

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is currently seeking a Digital Imaging Specialist for the Publishing Group to work on Digital Apps Production for MSL, EDF, and other titles as specified. This position will also work on images for print, as needed. The Specialist will be responsible for color correcting, retouching, manipulating, and trafficking digital images and other related digital assets. The Specialist will also provide the same services for other publishing projects and departments as directed. Good Housekeeping Magazine SPRING 2011 Photography Internship

Good Housekeeping, a magazine of Hearst Corporation, is looking for a photo intern for the SPRING 2011 semester. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and very educational. Interns will learn about the daily activities of a large-scale magazine. This includes publishing, photo editing, photo research, and photo shoots (and much more). Interns will be primarily responsible for helping the photo team do photo research. However, interns will also be able to visit the in-house studio and go to photo shoots with the editors. In addition, the photo intern will assist the editors in various administrative tasks including contact with photographers worldwide. Good Housekeeping magazine is looking for a 2011 Spring Semester ART INTERN.
