Art/Photo Intern, Parents Magazine

Parents Magazine is looking for an art/photo intern for the spring '12 semester. Candidates should be resourceful, responsible and able to learn quickly. You must be able to receive college credit and work at least two days a week.

Responsibilities include:

for PHOTO
-photo research
-helping and observing on photo shoots
-maintaining the prop closet (organizing/managing)
-general administrative duties such as sending out messengers for props,
organizing film and sending out issues.

for ART
-silo'ing (or digitally "cutting out" images)
-maintaining the wall of mini print-outs of the issue
-placing text and art in layouts
-some administrative duties

+ more -- and this all depends on your performance and what kind of special projects we have going on (like our monthly iPad version of the magazine)

Fortune Art Department Intern

Fortune Magazine has an opening for an Art Department Intern starting ASAP. This position is part-time for 3 months, ending March 1. This is a paid position and you would need to be available 2 days a week.

The ideal candidate:
- has a strong interest in learning about what it's like to work in a magazine's art department

Good Housekeeping Photo Internship, Spring 2012

Good Housekeeping, a magazine of Hearst Corporation, is looking for a Spring photo intern for the Spring 2012 semester. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and very educational. Interns will learn about the daily activities of a large-scale magazine. This includes publishing, photo editing, photo research, and photo shoots (and much more). Interns will be primarily responsible for helping the photo team do photo research. However, interns will also be able to visit the in-house studio and go to photo shoots with the editors. In addition, the photo intern will assist the editors in various administrative tasks including contact with photographers worldwide. The intern MUST receive school credit and be able to work 3 days a week.

Photo Editor, Organic Gardening

Redbook Magazine Graphic Design Intern

Redbook Magazine's art department is looking for energetic design interns for the Spring semester of 2012 in New York City. Candidates should be eager to learn about how the design department of a nationally acclaimed magazine runs. Responsibilities include research, maintaining wall of printed layouts, and general administrative duties such as organizing reference material, photocopying inspiration material, and occasionally assisting the Creative Director. Bloomberg Businessweek Custom Publishing seeks a Junior Designer. This person will assist in the production of special ad section and custom content appearing in Bloomberg Businessweek, Bloomberg Markets, Businessweek.com and Bloomberg.com. Freelance Editorial Designer

Fashion brand with offices in New York City is currently seeking a freelance graphic designer to assist with magazine layout and design asap. Candidate will work on designing editorial pages and building graphic elements as well as working directly with editors to translate their ideas into strong visual design. Candidate must have superior design sensibilities, typographic skills, knowledge of color, scale and layout and a working knowledge of the grid system. Art Production Associate

Men's Journal magazine seeks an energetic, ambitious Art Production Associate to assist the Art Department and Managing Editor. The Art Production Associate will clean up pages prior to sending them to prepress, send color to prepress as soon as layouts are approved, manage InDesign and InCopy templates and work with prepress to folio the book. Candidate will update the wall regularly (as layouts are approved and as map order changes), assist with creating PDF's and printouts, perform light design work and assist the staff with Men's Journal specific K4 questions and problems. The Art Production Associate will back-up the Managing Editor with trafficking, mapping and reinforcement of workflow.
 
The Art Production Associate must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in art production at a magazine. Candidate must be an organized, detail-oriented self-starter who can handle significant responsibility and work well in a team environment.

This position reports to the Managing Editor.

Photo Intern

Award-winning, technology magazine IEEE Spectrum is offering a paid (12 weeks, stating immediately) Photo internship in their NYC office. The ideal candidate must be creative with excellent communications and organizational skills. A strong interest in photography, magazines and technology is a must. Inc.com Art Department Paid Internship

Inc.com is looking for an art/photo intern who will assist our online editorial team with finding and creating art to accompany slideshows and articles that run online. This person will research, size and prep images and associate them with articles using our content management system. He/she will also produce slideshows and perform additional photo/production/design duties as assigned. An individual with a background in design/web production is preferred. A passion and eye for photography is also important. This is a full-time, paid position.
