Wired design intern, fall

WIRED magazine is currently looking for a design department intern for Fall 2012. The intern can commit 20 hours per week from September through December in our San Francisco office. The internship is open to all third and fourth year full-time design students and must be taken for credit. Students who cannot receive credit will not be considered. The internship is unpaid but students will receive a small daily stipend. You will participate as an active member of the ASME and SPD award-winning design department, working directly with the art directors, designers, photo department, production staffers, and editors. You'll be expected to help with tablet screen and front-of-book page layout, print out and distribute manuscripts, update and manage the wall of current issue pages, create illustrations and infographics for various parts of the magazine, organize all tear sheets and help with award submissions. We value those who are interested in the WIRED culture, and those who are motivated, industrious, and eager to learn in a challenging and creative editorial design environment.

Esquire Magazine Fall 2012 Art & Design Intern

Redbook Magazine (Hearst Corporation) is seeking energetic graphic design students for an internship in the Art Department for the Fall 2012 semester in New York City. Candidates should be eager to learn about how the design department of a national magazine runs. Responsibilities include research, maintaining wall of printed layouts, minor imaging work, and general administrative duties such as organizing inspirational reference material, and occasionally assisting the Creative Director. The Cut Photo Internship (Paid)

The Cut, New York Magazine's fashion blog, is looking for talented photo interns to start immediately. Interns will primarily be optimizing images for web (making silo's, cropping, resizing, uploading, etc.), but also may assist with photo research, support photo shoot production and/or provide general office help. The ideal candidate is organized and enthusiastic about online media, digital imaging and editorial photography. Associate Art Director - Condé Nast

Candidates should be detail-oriented and possess a sophisticated design sense, have a strong grasp of typography, and have specific experience in managing projects from conception to completion under tight deadlines. Responsibilities include designing feature and FOB editorial pages for the print magazine, as well as generating concepts and designing layouts for AD's digital tablet editions. He/she will also provide design guidance to junior members of the team as needed, and will undertake other art direction assignments at the request of the Art Director.

Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of graphic design experience; 1-2 years of digital design experience is essential
  • Possess strong typographic expertise and sophisticated design aesthetic
  • Ability to problem solve and work as a team player
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (+K4), as well as Adobe Digital Publishing Suite

Inked Magazine Design Intern

All design intern candidates get hands-on experience while designing actual editorial pages throughout the magazine. Director of Marketing/Communications Design & Production

Job Summary/Basic Function: The Director of Marketing/Communications Design & Production is a full-time position in the Office of External Affairs, within the department of Development & External Affairs (DEA). The position reports to the Director of External Affairs. The ideal candidate sets the stylistic and artistic direction of communications and marketing materials for all of DEA and serves as a resource for the rest of the College. Primary responsibility is the design/production of Teachers College's core publications as well as execution of high priority design/production assignments from DEA leadership, both print and online. The incumbent will identify and supervise vendors and freelancers, manage the art/design/production budget, and negotiate cost efficiencies.
