Photo Intern

Story Worldwide is looking for an enthusiastic and dependable photo intern. This is a great opportunity to be a part of our imaging department firsthand and learn about the responsibilities involved in producing photography for magazines and advertising. A background in photography and a strong interest in photo editing magazines (travel & beauty/fashion titles) is preferred.

Design Intern

Story Worldwide is looking for a gifted and motivated intern to join our design team. You will assist on a variety of projects, including designing for web, tablet and print. We are seeking someone with a strong interest in typography, who is also knowledgeable and excited about digital and multi-media formats. Candidates should have a keen sense of design, strong working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and basic knowledge of HTML and Flash. This intern should be available to work three days a week in our midtown New York office from 10AM to 6PM, and will be compensated with a daily food/travel stipend.

Art dept. intern for New You magazine

New You magazine is seeking an industrious art department intern from 11 February to 8 March 2013. A commitment of 20 (flexible) hours a week is required. Would prefer a 3rd- or 4th-year design student, or possibly a recent graduate. You will be receiving school credit as well as a stipend of $500 per week. Intern should be a passionate, creative individual with a strong typographic skills. An interest in magazine design and publishing is a big plus along with a good knowledge of Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat. We are using CS6. We'd love you to be confident, aware, motivated, detail-oriented, friendly, communicative, and eager to pitch in and do anything. We have a very small art and editorial team and everyone wears many hats--every task, big or small, receives the same amount of attention. The ability to play nicely with others is paramount. We also have fun here. Duties will include: • support of the art department in all capacities, • updating the mini wall, • sporadic image/design/font research, • designing small graphics and magazine pages as needed, • updating layouts created by others on occasion. Our intern will be involved with all facets of producing the issue and should walk away with some nice tearsheets.

Junior Designer

Vogue.com is looking for a freelance JUNIOR DESIGNER for the months of February and March, potentially extending beyond that time frame. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign. An interest in fashion photography is also important in assisting with extensive photo research and image requests. Candidates should be extremely organized, good at completing day-to-day tasks with a sense of urgency as well as keeping an eye on long-term projects, creative, eager, and very enthusiastic. FULL-TIME FREELANCE TABLET DESIGNER

New York magazine is seeking a designer to translate its print design layouts into tablet format for the iPad. Responsibilities include conceptualizing and producing interactive elements and working closely with the production and art departments throughout the weekly schedule. Junior Designer

Active Interest Media seeks a junior designer to work in its Boulder Design Group. We publish a number of multiple magazines, including Backpacker, Climbing, Old House Journal, Timber Home Living and Arts and Crafts Homes. FREELANCE SENIOR DESIGNER

Popular Mechanics magazine has an immediate opening for an associate-level freelance designer to work on our tablet editions with some print work. This is a long-term freelance position.
 
What we're looking for:
The senior designer will collaborate closely with the print art director to transform the print edition into interactive tablet editions. He or she will also collaborate with the design director, the photography director, and the editors to conceptualize and plan animations interactivity and visuals. The ideal candidate is someone who is a strong designer with a passion for magazines and is innovative and knowledgeable about technology trends, tablet software, and tools.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 5+ years consumer magazine experience.
  • Sophisticated sense of design, photography, and typography.

PHOTO/CASTING ASSISTANT (Full Time) Women's Health magazine

Seeking an energetic and enthusiastic full-time photo assistant to join the Women's Health photo department team. The position will provide overall support to the Photo Department and will report directly to the Director of Photography and Deputy Photo Editor. Responsibilities include: casting models for all photo shoots, helping with production of photo shoots, ordering hi-resolution images, photo research for monthly articles, supporting Women's Health digital platforms, and other administrative duties and day-to-day tasks. Summer Design Internship

The Jackson Hole News&Guide, a weekly newspaper located in Jackson, Wyoming, is seeking a graphic design student for a summer internship. The intern would work 2-3 days a week (Monday and Tuesday + one extra day as needed). 

Responsibilities would include:
- assisting head designer
- creating section pages
- creating information graphics
- creating illustrations
- assisting in creating arts section covers

LONG-TERM FREELANCE SENIOR LEVEL DESIGNER/ART DIRECTOR

The designer will design features and packages, as well as shorter stories for the weekly, attending photo layouts and attending meetings with editors, reporting to the managing art directors and the Design Director.
