Summer Design Internship

The Jackson Hole News&Guide, a weekly newspaper located in Jackson, Wyoming, is seeking a graphic design student for a summer internship. The intern would work 2-3 days a week (Monday and Tuesday + one extra day as needed). Responsibilities would include: - assisting head designer - creating section pages - creating information graphics - creating illustrations - assisting in creating arts section covers - assisting in creating special sections Would prefer a candidate that can start in late May or early June, and stay until the beginning of September. Must be proficient in InDesign. Knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop a plus. DWELL magazine / Sr. Designer

We are looking for a passionate senior designer to join our creative team. The ideal candidate will have high standards for magazine design and enthusiasm for innovative, creative storytelling solutions in a collaborative environment. Weekly magazine publishing experience a must. Expert knowledge of K4, InDesign CS4, Illustrator, Photoshop. Position requires design and production of interior pages, charts, tables and maps. ELLE DECOR Art Department Internship

ELLE DECOR magazine is seeking an Art / Editorial intern to start as soon as possible, with the possibility of continuing in the Spring and Summer of 2013 if desired. Responsibilities within two departments: Assist the design team with preparing photos for layout (Photoshop skills), setting up layouts (InDesign skills), as well as organizational tasks. In addition, the candidate will assist the editorial department with monthly tasks such as maintaining photos dossiers and updating the wall of pages in progress, etc. This position will require a detail oriented individual who will be working with the art and editorial departments -- a rare opportunity for someone who wants to learn how a fast-paced shelter magazine operates. This internship is unpaid and all candidates must be able to receive college credit.

Art Director

Art Director Responsibilities: • Work directly with edit team to layout pages and design elements of our websites, including designing entire websites under the guidance of the Creative Director. • Delegate layout of different sections and website channels to other designers/junior designers in the department. • Work closely with edit on design and layout for each page. • Work directly with production department on color correction, silo's, etc. to in preparation for printing. • Formulate basic layout design concept and conduct research to select and secure suitable illustrative material, or conceive and assign production of material and detail to artists. • Review, approve, and present final layouts to Creative Director for approval. • Perform duties of Graphic Designer to design art layouts. • Mark up, paste up, and finish layouts to prepare layouts for printing. • Other duties as assigned.

Assistant Photo Editor-Runner's World

RUNNER'S WORLD is seeking an energetic Assistant Photo Editor. Interested candidates should have a strong interest in photography, excellent computer skills, a knowledge of Photoshop and Excel, and one to two years experience working at a magazine or in a photo studio. A BFA in Photography or Design is preferred. Responsibilities include: • Working collaboratively with the Director of Photography to assist in the production of photo shoots • Assisting the photo team on various types of research, ranging from sports to food to lifestyle. Research will include but not be limited to using stock agencies, photographer archives, and PR contacts • Working closely with editors and the art department • Organizing and logging images. • Calling in and sending out gear for photo shoots • Ordering final art for layout and inputting metadata into K4 • Contributing ideas for photo solutions • Producing smaller photo shoots and assisting in prop styling for shoots. • Various administrative duties.

Art Director-Runner's World

ART DIRECTOR Runner's World Runner's World, the world's leading running magazine, is seeking an art director for its monthly print publication. INKED Design Intern

All design intern candidates get hands-on experience while designing actual editorial pages throughout the magazine. Candidates are also involved in the planning and production of photo shoots, are present on set and assist the creative director when appropriate. YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET PUBLISHED.

Summer art intern (Consumer Reports & ShopSmart magazine's Design department

As part of the Design team, interns will: • blog image research for Consumer Reports Online and ShopSmartMag.org, • obtain images for Consumer Reports print iPad app, ShopSmart, and Consumer Reports magazine photo research, • assist on photo shoots, prop shopping, cataloging prop inventory, • and some design work. Summer internships will be available to current full-time students (undergraduate or graduate students) or recent graduates (graduated in December 2012 or graduating in May 2013). Academic credits can be applied if applicable (please specify in your application if your internship will be for credit and provide contact information for your academic institution representative). Internship positions will start in late May and run through mid-August (total of 12 weeks, with some flexibility). Interns will be paid $15 per hour based on a 35-hour work week. In addition, interns will be invited to participate in activities including lunch with senior leaders of Consumer Reports, a tour of our world-renowned product testing labs, and a trip to our Auto Test facilities in Colchester, CT. DESIGNER, NYLON

Editorial Graphic Designer / Interior Design Magazine

Interior Design Magazine is looking for an editorial graphic designer. Candidates must be proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. This person should be a super energetic creative with strong organizational skills in order to handle all photo submissions and large quantities of art files. The designer will be working closely with the Editor in Chief and Market Editor to design product layouts, front of book articles, and biannual product supplements. Duties include uploading digital files onto the server; reviewing product submissions with the Market Editor; requesting all high resolution images for publication; flowing text for all sections; post-scripting pages; and archiving past issues. Must be a motivated individual who is able to handle the fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest design standards of this monthly magazine.
