Graphic Design Intern

Family Circle magazine is looking for an enthusiastic intern for the art department. We are seeking someone who is available 3 days a week. The intern will work closely with all designers and photo editors and will be responsible with helping with the design of both front of book and back of book pages, assisting with photo research, circulating layouts, updating mini boards, and a few administrative tasks. The ideal candidate must be very organized, have excellent communication skills, a strong knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, and have the ability to work in MS Office programs. This is a hands-on experience to learn how a magazine is developed. This internship is paid and also accepts students who need school credit. CLASSICS BOOK SERIES DESIGNER

The designer should have experience of designing high quality books for gifts and contents and should have some knowledge of what ticks a buyer to buy a well designed classic.

Digital Designer, Adweek.com

The Digital Designer will assist in the daily production of visual content on Adweek.com. This entails working closely with the Digital Design Director, Online Producer and editors to populate the site with with appropriate and engaging images. Knowledge of photography, digital workflow and basic Web design is essential. This is a full-time salaried position. It is located at our East Village offices in Manhattan. Web Developer, Sports Illustrated

The Sports Illustrated team is looking for a high-octane, kick-ass interactive web/digital developer/designer with 2+ years experience to work on an iconic brand. The ideal candidate has polish, an eye for detail, is self-motivated and resourceful (a sense of humor doesn't hurt either). In this role you'll be working directly with the Creative Director to come up with the look and feel of core web/digital Sports Illustrated properties.

Technical Skills:

Art Assistant, Architectural Digest

Condé Nast seeks an Art Assistant for a full-time staff position. The Art Assistant will serve as general assistant to Architectural Digest's editorial art department and as liaison to other brand and company departments. Primary responsibilities: liaise with photo department to traffic artwork; prepare for film edit and layout review meetings; update layout mock-up boards; execute basic Photoshop and InDesign requests as needed; offer secondary graphic support to other departments, including but not limited to preparing presentations for the Editor-in-Chief, watermarking images and creating PDFs for press or web usage, and more. Additionally, the Art Assistant is responsible for various administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, organizing, ordering supplies, and miscellaneous errands as needed.

Art Assistant

New York Magazine seeks an assistant for the Art Department. The job entails supporting the magazine's Art Department in all capacities and acting as liaison with the editorial staff for future planning. Responsibilities include filing invoices and expenses, collecting and distributing manuscripts, commissioning illustrations, maintaining archives, scheduling appointments, researching visual ideas for upcoming stories, maintaining the mini board of the issue, fulfilling various administrative tasks, and running the occasional errand. The individual also serves as general assistant to the Design Director. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, and capable of juggling day-to-day administrative tasks with work on current and future issues. Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is a plus, as there can be some design and production work.

Studio Manager / Executive Assistant

We're looking for a Studio Manager to help things run smoothly at a boutique graphic design studio in Montclair, NJ. The candidate must be college-educated, articulate, organized and Mac-smart. Primary responsibility is to support ridiculously busy Creative Director by monitoring his e-mail, scheduling meetings and travel, and tracking projects. Other responsibilities include managing online calendars, lists and databases; answering phones; ordering supplies; processing payroll; making bank deposits; sending invoices and maintaining collections; and making sure our seven-person studio always looks presentable for clients. This is not a design position, but familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Keynote are a plus. Hours are 8:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Freelance Front-end and Back-end Web Developer

purpose: This website guides users through important lifestyle changes that will help them lead healthier lives. functionality: Users will access content via paid subscription, e-Commerce handled with Stripe. Users begin with limited access to content, and more content becomes available in progressive steps (they "unlock" new content). The program is divided into 9 steps; in order to unlock new content, users must click a button to finish the current step they are on, and a minimum of 7 days needs to have passed since they finished the previous step. Timed emails are sent to the user if they have not logged in or completed a step within 2 weeks. Additional user specific content will be available at the completion of the 9-steps as an additional purchase. Requires implementation of a content management system for in-house updates. scope of site: 15 page style templates. Approximately 130 pages when we launch, with the ability for us to add more pages that follow the same structure with the content management system. Willing to collaborate on workflows and process. schedule: Finalizing design and content through mid-July. Anticipated to start development at end of July, going live September 1, 2013.

Foreign Policy, an award winning, fast growing online and print magazine that is part of the Washington Post Company, is seeking an energetic design leader to guide our world-class visual report. The creative director leads a small visual team and works with editors to craft the overall design, photo and illustration efforts of Foreign Policy both in print and on digital platforms. FP's audience averages more than 4 million unique visitors a month through its website, ForeignPolicy.com. The 42-year-old print magazine publishes seven print issues annually and has been recognized with multiple National Magazine Awards for both print and digital excellence. The creative director is a hands-on role, focused on visual storytelling, not management and bureaucracy. Key requirements: - Crafting sophisticated, engaging magazine design -- from compelling covers to content-rich, multi-layered inside packages. - Assigning and directing freelance photographers and illustrators. - Collaborating with senior editors to produce the print magazine and key digital visual initiatives. - Working with the deputy art director to produce visual elements daily for ForeignPolicy.com The ability to produce print and digital informational graphics is a big plus, as is an interest in international affairs and current events.
