Photo Director

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is looking for a Photo Director for its Martha Stewart Living Publication. The Photo Director will works alongside the Creative Director to ensure consistent photographic identity for Martha Stewart Living. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Oversee the production and scheduling of all photography stories for publishing in collaboration with the art department and story teams. • Manage the work of photo editors to ensure photo shots are being produced in a thorough and efficient manner. • Attend wall meetings to ensure the photographic direction is being communicated clearly to photo editors and to photographers being assigned. • With photo editors, help maintain monthly photo shoot calendars for publishing. • Seek out new photographer and keep art directors up to date. • Manage the invoicing processes and procedures, including approvals, coding, and resolving discrepancies between photographers, vendors and accounting. • Work with Business Manager for publishing to create templates and policies in order to control costs and continually update cost databases for photographer's fees, film, and processing, and equipment rental. • Hire photographers for stories, obtains estimates; assure that final invoices match estimate, work with junior photo editors to ensure invoices are coded, tracked, processed correctly for above publishing businesses. • Hire illustrators for stories. Negotiate rights appropriate for budget and ensure art is received in a timely fashion. • Create purchase orders for all photographers and illustrators for each project/assignment and track their return. • Hire models and hair/make-up stylists, and scout locations as necessary for publishing. Track and maintain model and location releases, and provide certificates of insurance when necessary for all publishing stories. Obtain stylist contracts for hair/make-up stylists as necessary. • Work on any special project as requested by Creative Director. Any other duties as assigned

Photo Editor

• Conceptualize photo treatments with design director and assign photographers accordingly, especially for the feature well. Attend key shoots to ensure the magazine's vision is carried out. • Produce photo shoots: scout locations, organize shoot logistics, create call sheets, hire models/stylists/assistants as needed. • Coordinate with photographers to ensure files are delivered on deadline. • Negotiate fees with photographers within the budget; get contracts and photo releases signed. • Oversee and hire photo interns. • Nurture relationships with current roster of photographers; meet and develop relationships with photographers who should be working for the magazine.

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is looking for a highly talented, innovative and collaborative Creative Director for Martha Stewart Living Magazine and its I-pad edition to lead a talented team of Art Directors and production designers in the creative department. The candidate must be at a Design or Creative Director level and have the ability to manage tight deadlines, large volumes of work with attention to detail and a large staff while meeting and exceeding a high level of creative output. The scope of work is print and digital focused including photography and video direction and draws heavily on strong typography, content and concept development and a passion for crafts, home-keeping, cooking and gardening. Expertise in these areas is required. The position reports directly to the Editor in Chief. Paid Photo Internship

New York Magazine's photography department is offering a PAID internship. We are looking for someone with prior internship experience at a magazine, who is comfortable with handling photography equipment and lighting, and familiar with stock photo agencies. Qualified candidates should be organized and able to see projects through under tight deadlines. Interns should be very comfortable and effective communicating over the phone, in person, and via e-mail. Intern responsibilities include some general administrative duties, photo researching, maintaining photo archives, scouting, assisting on photo shoots, assisting in our photographers studio and maintaining the props closet.
