Digital Creative Associate

About the Role: Our Digital Creative Associates are strategic, creative, reliable and driven by results. They are responsible for internal branding, developing and designing creative units for current and future clients. Applicants must be able to take direction, have a strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task. Associate Photo Editor- Food & Wine

RESPONSIBILITIES • Research, produce and edit front-of-the-book stories. • Secure rights and permissions for all PR, stock and assigned photography (compiling/updating monthly rights report; sending out contracts/assignment letters and model releases). • Oversee the inputting of metadata for all images. Compile caption, photo and credit information. • Work with Photo Assistant and Photo Editor on tracking/maintaining budgets. • Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the Photo Department (make sure pick-up deadlines are met; download hi-res images when needed; check photo credits for accuracy; follow up on contributor payments when necessary). • Work with the Photo team to help expand F&W's national and international network of photographers and stylists.

Tablet Designer, Full-time Freelance

The ideal candidate will be a team player and must have the ability to work closely with editors from various Hearst Magazine Brands to assist in creating visually captivating design solutions while excelling at working both independently and in a team environment. He/she will have strong communication skills and a passion for magazine and tablet design, an energetic and friendly attitude, and must be forward thinking. ART DIRECTOR

Washingtonian Magazine has an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Art Director to join our design team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have strong editorial design experience along with the ability to produce high-energy, high-impact work for our award-winning suite of publications: Washingtonian Magazine, Washingtonian Bride & Groom, Washingtonian MOM, and Washingtonian Welcome Guide. This position reports to the Creative Director and is responsible for designing a mix of features, service packages, department pages while delegating to/managing an art team. Working closely with editors to create and oversee the overall look of what is produced while coordinate with production to make sure deadlines are met. An all around passion for magazines is a MUST. Skills include a thorough knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and K4 with the ability to balance multiple projects in highly collaborative environment while problem-solve under tight deadlines. Experience with digital mag creation for tablets a plus.

Senior Designer, Time Out New York

Design Intern

Seeking a creative design student or recent grad looking to get their foot in the door at a growing custom publishing company. As a design intern you'll work directly with our creative director and help our small but energetic staff create a different magazine every two weeks. We're a fast-paced office and our design team works at a rapid pace, so those without an expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite will likely be a little out of their depth. We expect you to bring a designer's eye, an editor's brain and an artist's soul to every project we'll task you with working on, which might be anything from turning copy into a gorgeous layout or working hand in hand with our Creative Director to create a template for a future publication. Every day is different. Will there be the occasional day where you silo 30 images? Sure. But those days will be full of great music, terrible jokes and a ton of hands-on experience in the publishing industry. The internship is unpaid, but can be used for college credit. Design Intern

Mediaplanet Publishing is seeking designers for a Spring/Summer 2014 Internship. Candidates must have an education background in design and an interest in gaining industry experience in print, editorial, and web design. Some processes you will learn include designing for cross-platform content marketing campaigns, designing sharable art across social media, maintaining photo archives, and creating editorial layouts. Must be well organized, able to multi-task, and eager to learn. Must have a solid working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Ability to work in HTML and CSS is preferred. Internship will consist of about 2-3 days per week starting as soon as possible. Designers must own their own laptops with Adobe Creative Suite and feel comfortable working on it in the office. The internship is unpaid; College credit is offered but is not required.

Tablet Art Director -- Entertainment Weekly

Magazine brands have found new readers on digital platforms that redefine our relationship with content. Those platforms themselves are evolving, and we're looking for a digital director well-versed in responsive design and Adobe DPS platform to help fuel our growth forward, no matter what's to come. Main duties include conceptualizing and converting print design into tablet and mobile formats while upholding clear and consistent brand identity. Future duties may involve crafting responsive, immersive stories and templates; handling content feeds; and liaising with technical contacts on more in-depth builds. Candidate must be able to manage a high volume of work in a very fast-paced environment. Knowledge of pop culture is a plus. A mastery of style sheets is a must. Candidate should be extremely organized, excels at working both independently as well as leading others in a team-based environment. This role reports to Entertainment Weekly's Design Director.
