Art Assistant--Parents

Parents Magazine is seeking a full-time Art Assistant to join our collaborative, efficient, and friendly art team. The Art Assistant performs both administrative support to the department (maintaining mini walls/binders, tracking manuscripts from editors, filing expenses, maintaining the calendar and schedules for the department, and providing support to the Creative Director) and a good amount of design work (monthly design of several formatted pages of the magazine). In addition, there are occasional design projects and presentations to assist with. The Art Assistant needs to be highly organized, efficient, and able to communicate well, both through email and in person. Candidates for the position should have a college degree in art or graphic design, a strong interest in publication design, and must be skilled with InDesign, Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Designer, Custom Media & Events

• Design all web banners, email promos, winner's seals for all corresponding events and contests. • Work with PDN Associate Art Director on trade and sponsored magazines, including tradeshow guides, Emerging Photographer and PDNedu. • Create all custom marketing and promotional collateral, including materials for media kits , presentations and events such as Photo Annual Party from concept to completion. • Oversee web banners, seminar grids, collateral and merchandise for tradeshows PhotoPlus Expo and WPPI • Manage the design of sell Sheets for tradeshows, events and magazines

Senior Graphic Designer

Prestigious Media Company seeks highly talented Graphic Arts professional to join its dynamic in-house creative team. Daily design challenges from both Hearst Magazines Integrated Marketing and Hearst Corporation include special ad units, sales presentations, annual reports, website design, logo design, brochures, collateral, and more. Candidate must have extremely developed graphic design vocabulary and be open to and excited by new creative design challenges. Applicants need to present their work, possess solid organization and communication skills and have the ability to work under exceedingly tight deadlines coupled with a dedicated team spirit. Applicants should have relevant 3+ years' experience. ICS - Associate Art Director

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsibility includes the conceptualization, art direction and implementation of visual design and content across all channels--including the pages of AARP Publications, both the Magazine and Bulletin, their tablet iterations, book jackets, promotional and social media materials, and other internal and external AARP publications collateral. 2. Follow designs through from concept to print/digital production and the ability to quickly adapt to changes in design direction. 3. Have great visual conceptualization skills, a proven ability to hire and art direct the best illustrators and photographers, assist in the art direction of photo shoots, have exceptional publication design skills, and must have strong typographic skills 4. Must have strong leadership qualities, and ownership over work, while developing and executing the design and vision of the publications as established by the Senior Design staff. 5. Embrace teamwork and collaboration. Ability to work well under pressure, multitask and adhere to tight deadlines. Must be detail-oriented--strong organizational and time-management skills are a must. 6. In-depth knowledge of Adobe CS6 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). DPS experience a plus. 7. National magazine design experience preferred.

Customer Service Rep/ Print Specialist

Customer Service Representative/Print Specialist Knowledge of printing business preferred but will train. Order taking, computer & phone work. Ideally have some knowledge of pre-press/ graphic design.

Men's Journal Design Intern

Men's Journal editorial art department interns assist in all phases of magazine design and production including designing front of book pages, back of book pages, feature package icons, art department brainstorming sessions, and assisting in the workflow through InDesign & K4.

Duration: January 5, 2015 - April 3, 2015. 2 days a week, 8 hours a day minus a 1 hour lunch break (which is unpaid) for 13 weeks not to exceed 182 hours. The internship is paid.

Marie Claire Spring Art Intern

Marie Claire is looking for interns in the art department for the Spring. Candidates must have a strong interest in magazine design, photography, typography and love for fashion. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must, plus the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. He/she should be resourceful, responsible and a creative problem-solver. The intern will assist in the daily workflow of the magazine. Duties will include but are not limited to: Designing layouts for tablet editions, Maintaining and updating the mini wall for each issue, preparing and updating flip books for Editor-in-Chief and Design Director, photo research, preparing layouts for presentation. Under the guidance of the art department, the intern will experience the process of a national monthly magazine. This is the perfect position for a dynamic, self-motivated college student looking for hands-on experience. Experience with Photoshop and InDesign is required, as well as a major relating to graphic design. This is a non-paid internship and for school credit ONLY. Harper's Bazaar Design Intern

Harper's BAZAAR magazine is seeking Spring interns that can receive college credit to intern in the Art/Design Department. Some processes you will learn will be: organizing the art flow, scanning images, updating the "book" and mini walls, and how to design front of book pages. Must have experience with Photoshop and InDesign, a major relating to graphic design, and a strong interest in fashion is ideal. Internships are typically 2-3 days a week, starting at the end of January and concluding in May.

Redbook magazine Graphic Design Internship

Redbook Magazine (Hearst Corporation) is seeking energetic graphic design students for an internship in the Art Department during the Spring/2015 semester in New York City. Candidates should be eager to learn about how the design department of a national magazine runs. Responsibilities include visual research, maintaining wall of printed layouts, minor imaging work, and editorial design projects. Candidates should be pro-active, have strong communication and organizational skills, and a strong working knowledge of CS6; particularly InDesign and Photoshop. Duration: January--May. A commitment of 2-3 days a week is required (10am to 6pm). Most importantly, you MUST be able to receive college credit. This is an unpaid internship, but the experience is great! Art Director
