Good Housekeeping magazine is seeking energetic, detail-oriented art interns for Summer 2016. Interns will have the opportunity to work with the art department, the photo team, and the Creative Director to help produce visual content for the publication. This includes learning about the day-to-day activities and the workflow of the magazine, as well as assisting designers with production tasks, both big and small. Interns will have the opportunity to design pages, help reinvent existing page templates, and experiment with color and type alongside our team. This is an unpaid internship and you must be able to receive college credit.

Description: Atlanta magazine is looking for a Design Director, who will be responsible for the overall look of the Atlanta magazine brand, spanning print, digital, and social media. S/he will collaborate with, supervise, and inspire a three-person art staff to create a magazine each month that is visually inviting, provocative, sophisticated, and commercial. The design director will touch, directly or indirectly, every edit page of the magazine, from the tiniest photo credit to a 16-page service package stuffed (engagingly) with dozens of elements. Beyond the monthly main magazine, s/he will also oversee the design of our ancillary edit-produced publications, including our quarterly shelter book, HOME magazine.
Job responsibilities: Working with the editor-in-chief and Emmis editorial director to conceive and execute compelling and commercial covers • Overseeing and implementing any future redesign of the magazine • Clearly and promptly communicating assignments to contributing photographers, illustrators and graphic artists • Using a limited budget in creative ways • Working closely with different departments to ensure a timely close of each issue • Finding ways to tell stories graphically and in unconventional and non-linear ways • Leading brainstorming sessions, suggesting heds and deks, and coming up with story ideas • Planning, alongside the editor-in-chief and section editors, for future covers and coverage • Nurturing and cultivating a deep roster of contributing photographers, illustrators and graphic artists • Directing photo shoots as appropriate.

The Assistant Designer role is perfect for a talented, fresh designer with a passion for ideas, design, typography, and interaction looking to join a fun and exciting design team. Working under the direction of Senior Designers, the Assistant Designer will execute and deliver high quality design in our growing range of digital products. The Assistant Designer will work predominantly on digital design projects, and contribute to a broad range of departmental tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting Design team, developing options, and executing on designs for HBR.org.
Producing options for discussion, designing variations, and investigating alternative solutions.
Contributing to Design team by enthusiastically engaging in discussion of work and suggesting ideas.
Working with Designers to:
-Develop and design interactive web elements.
-Produce Prototypes and visual comps for digital and web projects.
-Handle day to day design updates and more project based design.
-Build the ability to commission and communicate with suppliers.
Under direction from Senior Designers, Assistant Designers are expected to improve in their ability to operate independently and engage with internal clients, including Project Managers, UX, and tech development teams.

Prospective candidates should have a great eye for type, be comfortable designing templated pages, while also supporting department with various administrative tasks and small in-house design projects. St. Louis magazine is looking for a mid-level designer to join our Art Department (advertising/marketing) in a full-time capacity. The ideal candidate should have 2-4 years of professional experience in the graphic design industry. Official responsibilities include: Design advertorials, advertising supplements, in-house branding materials (media kit, etc.), circulation projects (ie sub cards, house ads, direct mail, e-blasts, online circ projects), ads for print and digital publication, marketing, event, and sales collateral. Should have good production skills as well. The designer should be able to take ideas from concept to execution and collaborate well with a team. This position is in a fast-paced environment where prioritization, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Must have a positive "can do" attitude, and a strong work ethic. A stellar portfolio with extreme attention to detail is a must.
