Billboard - Design Intern

We are looking for a paid intern to join our design team starting in February. We are looking for a candidate that could work 2-3 full days, M-F 10a-6p. We can be flexible based on classes and other activities. The intern would assist in designing elements for the magazine and website.

Senior Art Director

Objective Ad Age seeks a Senior Art Director with exceptional design and organizational skills to work with our talented newsroom team to plan, design and produce high-impact editorial pages, graphics, data and other related content that will tell stories in interesting, new and unique ways. Additionally, the role will serve to drive the design of Ad Age digital products, event collateral, motion graphics and other projects taken on by our studio where a designer's expertise can inform and enhance the experience of our brand. This person will report directly to the creative director of the newly-organized, all-platform Ad Age Studio which supports the editorial, marketing, product and business teams' creative needs. The Senior Art Director must be able to produce conceptually-driven content in print, with strong sophisticated design and typography, while also working through day-to-day operations of an art department which is pursuing multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously. In addition, the candidate must have a strong background in working with and directing talent, photographers, agents, and illustrators, being very adept at assigning, producing and sourcing original and pickup imaging. A strong original assignment illustration portfolio is a must. Finally, the Senior Art Director will collaborate with stakeholders outside of the department to complete projects ranging from digital product designs to special publications and supplements. This individual should excel at working both independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. And because of the nature of what we do, the successful candidate must be able to work from Ad Age headquarters in Manhattan and have schedule flexibility as work cycles up and down, particularly being available on nights when magazine pages are closing to press. Responsibilities Collaborate with editors, studio colleagues (designers/producers/freelancers), and business colleagues in the office and remotely to create conceptually and visually engaging stories for the legendary Advertising Age print magazine, which has 24 issues annually (bi-weekly) plus several special issue publications throughout the year Manage and complete imaging research requests in the art desk queue, in a timely fashion, for stories posting throughout the day to AdAge.com and Ad Age Creativity Lead and heavily contribute to the efforts of the studio designers across various Ad Age channels Produce imaging/photography research for various stories and manage selects Assign, produce and/or execute various original illustrations, photography and designs for Advertising Age magazine in print and on screen Occasionally attending and/or directing photo shoots as necessary Negotiate and process contracts and invoices for Ad Age editorial photographers and illustrators as necessary Assist creative director in maintaining the annual editorial imaging budget in collaboration with the art director Traffic-manage print projects for production and digital projects for the web Prepare press-ready PDFs (direct-to-plate, PDF X1a standards) Collaborating with manufacturing, manage production scheduling (page-ship schedule) and assist creative director and art director with staffing/freelance resource planning for various print projects including the editorial flagship magazine Work on various other design projects as requested by the creative director or general manager of marketing and brand Other duties as needed

Photo Intern - The Knot

The Knot, part of XO Group Inc., a lifestage media company, seeks a spring intern to work in our photo department. You will conduct photo research for print and online projects, including real weddings, and help with photo archiving. Administrative tasks will be a big part of your job as well. This is a paid internship and school credit is optional. The internship is part-time (two days a week) for 18 weeks, starting in mid January and extending to early May.

Digital Design Fellow

Are you an aspiring designer who loves science and tech? Let's talk. You might be just the droid we're looking for. PopSci's art department is searching for an enthusiastic, creative, and hard-working badass to be our first-ever Digital Design Fellow. Starting in January, you'll assist in the design and production of our iPad magazine and help make our website look amazing(er). If that's not enough, we might even throw some print work your way. This is a paid position for someone who can work 35 hours a week for 6 months. If you need school credit, we can work with that too. Art/Photo Internship - DuJour

DuJour Media is looking for intern to assist the art and photo departments for Spring 2017 with an immediate start date. Candidates must have a strong interest in magazine design, photography and typography. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must, plus the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. He/she should be resourceful, responsible and a creative problem-solver. The intern will assist in the daily workflow of the magazine. Duties will include but are not limited to: Maintaining and updating the mini wall for each issue, preparing and updating flip books for Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director, photo research, and preparing layouts for presentation. Under the guidance of the Art Director, the intern will experience the process of creating a magazine. This is the perfect position for a dynamic, self-motivated college student looking for hands-on experience.
