Art Director, Atlanta Magazine's HOME

Job Overview:

Atlanta Magazine is seeking an energetic, confident, hard working, and motivated art director to oversee the design and production of our bimonthly HOME publication.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Lead Atlanta Magazine's HOME publication through the entire design and production process for its six issues a year (finalizing lineups, assigning and art directing photo shoots, designing layouts and cover, print production, color correction, proofs)

- Work closely with the HOME editor to conceive and execute a visually inviting and clean magazine.

- Collaborate with the editor on content for the magazine, including scouting together for potential homes to feature

- Cultivate a deep roster of contributing illustrators and photographers for HOME

- Art direct photographers and stylists while attending photo shoots for HOME

- Manage the art budget for HOME

- Contribute to HOME's social media presence

- Design and produce marketing materials for the HOME magazine, in close collaboration with the Marketing Director.

- Contribute to the monthly Atlanta Magazine by participating in brainstorm sessions, pitching story ideas, and being a collaborative member of our art department.

Successful candidates will possess the following skills/abilities:

- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite

- Experience working on a shelter publication is preferable, but not required

- Good eye for photography and styling

- Highly organized

- Comfortable with juggling multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment

- Experience with pre-press and production--we are a small team and this is an integral part of the job

- Highly collaborative, as the art director will be a part of a four-person creative team.

- We're looking for someone who is well-versed in editorial design, able to conceptualize compelling visual treatments for stories, and eager to learn about Atlanta.

Art Intern

Food Network Magazine (Hearst Corporation) is seeking a graphic design student for an internship in the Art Department. You will assist in the daily workflow of the magazine. Duties will include: updating layouts, minor imaging work and learning editorial design. Candidates should have an interest in magazine publishing, strong working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop. Interest in food a plus. Duration: June-August

Children Magazine Art Director

We have an immediate opening for an experienced, highly creative Art Director who lives in the world of kids and/or children's publishing.  This position is responsible for the look of three of our monthly publications; Hello Magazine for ages 0-2, High Five Magazine for ages 2-5, and High Five's bilingual companion, High Five Bilingüe. In addition, this Art Director will be responsible for various product add-ons and spin-offs. Primary responsibilities include: • Executing competitive, contemporary and legible magazine design for kids. • Creating and maintaining relationships with freelance illustrators. • Overseeing the daily production work for all three magazines. Qualifications: • An affinity for the Highlights mission and values, and an appreciation for our "Fun with a Purpose" approach to content. • An ability to articulate key elements of good kids' design and integrate them into each magazine's individual "look and feel." Formalize these key elements into brand style guides to be shared with Marketing partners. • Commission original artwork. Designer

Texas Monthly magazine is currently seeking an enthusiastic, hard working, and highly confident graphic designer to join its creative team. This person will work closely with both art and edit teams to produce a range of editorial and digital content. The designer will work closely with the deputy editor to oversee and design front and back of book sections of the magazine, design a minimum of one feature per issue, assign illustrations, assist photo editor in research, and provide design needs for digital and social platforms, as needed. Successful candidates will possess a high level of design sophistication, a keen eye for photography and illustration, exceptional typography skills, and strong organizational skills.

Editorial Art Director

University Marketing, the Ohio State University Office of Advancement Position Overview The Editorial Art Director leads visioning, coordination and production through all facets of the creative process for the Ohio State Alumni Magazine - an 85-page publication that is distributed multiple times throughout the year. Directing the editorial design team, he/she will foster alignment across marketing disciplines and with Alumni Association leadership. In addition, this position will select, direct and manage external creative partner relationships including but not limited to photographers, illustrators, freelance designers and printers. This exciting opportunity will primarily entail direction that includes choosing stories and photography, managing creative partners, and storyboarding.
