Family Circle Design Intern Winter/Spring 16

Family Circle magazine is looking for an enthusiastic intern for the art department. We are seeking someone who is available 21 hours a week this winter and spring. The intern will attend department meetings, will work closely with the designers and photo editors to design front of book and back of book pages, and will also assist with photo research, circulating layouts, updating mini boards, and a few administrative tasks. The ideal candidate must be very organized, have excellent communication skills, a strong knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, and have the ability to work in MS Office programs. This is a hands-on experience to learn how a magazine is developed. This internship is paid and also accepts students who need school credit. Family Circle Junior Designer

An ideal candidate for the junior designer position will have a BA in graphic design or other design related field, and have some experience working at a publication either as a paid position or internship. As junior designer your duties will include attending art department meetings to discuss visual approaches to stories, working closely with other members of the art and photo departments to design front of book and department pages, circulating layouts and assisting with administrative tasks such as sending out and filing contracts. We have a small department and all share the day to day responsibilities of putting out a magazine as well as being involved in social media aspects of our brand. If you are a creative, detail oriented, and organized team player this is a great opportunity for growth. Must have good working knowledge of Indesign; knowledge of Woodwing, Illustrator and Photoshop a big plus.
