John Brown Media is launching an exciting New England food and cooking magazine to be headquartered in Boston. We are seeking a full-time designer to assist the art director in shaping the visual language around the digital and print components of the magazine.
Responsibilities:
• Execute templates and layout of the magazine across all platforms--print, digital, and social
• Assist with the production of photoshoots, graphics, and illustration
• Design content for both print, digital, and social
• Creatively tell stories through a mix of photo, illustration, charts, graphics, and more
• Collaborate closely with the editor-in-chief on layouts, story ideas, and treatments
Requirements:
• At least 2 years graphic design experience, preferably in a consumer magazine
• The ability to seamlessly weave between bi-monthly print and daily digital demands
• Fluency with design from a digital perspective, including social media
• Experience/skill with illustration and custom type (not required, but a bonus)
• An idea machine with attention to detail
• A highly collaborative mindset
