Multimedia/Visual Communications Specialist

We currently have an opening for a multimedia/visual communications specialist. In this capacity, you will be a member of the communications team in our Washington, DC office. Duties of the position: •Using analytical design and statistical data strategies, create print and electronic products that convey complex data with clarity and innovation. •Work with staff, clients, and external vendors to conceptualize, plan, and implement a variety of video and multimedia products, providing design and technical advice and services •Plan and execute webcasts for major events, using WebEx and other online conferencing technologies, recommending audiovisual enhancements and adjustments for in-person and web events •Design data visualization solutions to convey complex information; create storyboards, prototypes, flow diagrams, sample screens, and other elements during design phase •Produce video/multimedia products for internal and external audiences, including authoring, testing, and production for Section 508 compliance and correct rendering in multiple browsers •Provide direction in the creation of new interfaces and interactive products delivered on different platforms and operating systems •Ensure that all products conform with corporate visual identity guidelines and style •Collaborate with other Mathematica designers to lead improved design processes and production workflows •Occasional travel to other office locations to assist with video shoots and development work. Qualifications: •Must be creative, highly trained, and technologically savvy in using combinations of images and text to visually convey messages; strong conceptual thinking and capacity to execute an idea in a timely and well-crafted manner is essential •Strong familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods and data •Bachelor's degree in multimedia graphic design, visual communications, or liberal arts •Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in an online publishing environment and/or website/graphic design and data visualization experience •A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be substituted for the above requirements •Experience with project management and planning with both internal and external collaborators and vendors •Experience with Section 508 guidelines helpful •Knowledge of latest multimedia technologies including webinar hosting, planning, and execution •Experience with a variety of desktop and electronic publishing, graphic design and multimedia software •Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite CS6, Captivate, Audition, HTML/HTML 5, Javascript and Flash •Ability to design/develop on PC platform, within .NET environment •Non-linear video editing experience (preferably with Adobe Premiere/Adobe After Effects) •Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment •Marketing or instructional design background helpful
