Art Director/Rethinking Schools POSITION SUMMARY Rethinking Schools is seeking a talented art director to take responsibility for the design and layout of Rethinking Schools magazine, including a compelling front cover, interior, and ad placement. Rethinking Schools is published quarterly; each issue involves approximately 5-6 weeks from initiation to print. The art director works closely with the production editor to develop conceptual ideas for the cover and specific articles, and then contracts with freelance illustrators, artists, photographers, and cartoonists to find and/or develop art to complement the articles appearing in the magazine. The art director will see layout through all stages to print, and prepare files for online use. The art director is the primary contact with the printer on technical issues and printing of the journal.
