Art Director

The Old Farmer's Almanac has been published continuously since 1792, making it the oldest continuously published periodical in North America. Recognized for generations by its familiar yellow cover, The Old Farmer's Almanac publishers seek an Art Director to design this reference book and its family of publications: The Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids, the Everyday cookbook series; the collection of themed calendars, including Gardening, Weather Watcher's, Country, Recipe, Engagement, Everyday, Baby Animals, and Home Hints--and contribute to its dynamic Web sites, Almanac.com and Almanac4Kids.com. Our current Art Director is retiring and this opportunity requires someone to help us transition to a new stage in our publication's long history. If you seek a multi-branded products environment and have at least 6 years of industry experience in designing consumer print products with an understanding of online publishing product interfaces and applications; Bachelors or Advanced degree in design-related discipline or equivalent work experience; Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and have basic understanding of HTML5, CSS, and Javascript; Comprehensive knowledge of the English language, proofreader's marks, and correspondence skills; want to live and work in a small New Hampshire town, in the Monadnock Region, 44 miles from Manchester, NH and 69 miles from Boston, MA; then we would like to hear from you! The ideal candidate will possess a passion for accuracy and a commitment to quality, respect and appreciation for a legacy brand and its enthusiasts, interest in core content areas (gardening, cooking, nature, weather, history), and vision. Please send introductory letter, resume and work samples (Web link preferred) to: Art Director Search, The Old Farmer's Almanac, 1121 Main Street, Dublin, NH 03444 or email: employment2012@Yankeepub.com. No phone calls or agency referrals please.
