Nature Conservancy magazine, the award-winning, bimonthly publication of the world's leading conservation organization, seeks a dynamic Assistant Photo Editor with 2+ years of editorial experience to help document and depict some of the most beautiful and threatened natural places in the world--as well as the people who are working to protect them. The successful candidate will assist the magazine's Photo Director with photography assignments, research & editing, managing image file workflow, licensing images and payment of invoices, as well as work with the Art Director to coordinate creation of maps & illustrations. S/he will have excellent creative visual storytelling skills, a knack for photo research with stock agencies and other sources, and a knowledge of and passion for photographic history and styles, including natural history, conservation, reportage, portraiture, conceptual, and fine art. The successful candidate will be highly organized, a self-starting, independent worker, and willing to go the extra mile to create or find the perfect image. Excellent communication skills are required. Must be able to work well in a fun, collaborative team environment that requires working closely with freelancers, editors, designers, and other staff.
