We're a seeking bold, creative and visually-driven designer to help launch a nearly first-of-its kind newspaper format.
In October, the Cincinnati Enquirer will switch to the Super Compact format (or the 3-around). We'll be the second U.S. paper to move to this format, and only miss being the first by a couple of weeks.
We've used this change to completely rethink the direction and philosophy of the Enquirer's design. We'll be taking a magazine-style approach to our section fronts. Impact is key, and this definitely won't be your traditional newspaper.
The right candidate should be able to brainstorm new concepts, art direct with ease, produce basic but smart illustrations, own a mastery of typography, work well on deadlines, and know how to marry type and visuals. We design newspapers with nightly deadlines, so we do work evenings.
