Editorial features designer/Art director

We're searching for a designer who knows how to conquer both concept and execution. The right candidate not only understands Photoshop and Illustrator, but also the principles of art and design - whether they use a computer, a pencil or a brush. You must thrive on creativity, and be able to collaborate well with others. We have plenty of destination pages for you to make your canvas. And, depending on your skill level, you might have an opportunity to coach and art direct other designers. You'll design food, arts and entertainment, style, and home sections for our handful of newspapers. Our products are mostly newspapers, and print daily. So, you must be efficient and work well under pressure. You will assist in art directing with your section remotely. Our "features" designers typically work daytime hours.

News design ACE

We're a seeking bold, creative and visually-driven designer to help launch a nearly first-of-its kind newspaper format. In October, the Cincinnati Enquirer will switch to the Super Compact format (or the 3-around). We'll be the second U.S. paper to move to this format, and only miss being the first by a couple of weeks. We've used this change to completely rethink the direction and philosophy of the Enquirer's design. We'll be taking a magazine-style approach to our section fronts. Impact is key, and this definitely won't be your traditional newspaper. The right candidate should be able to brainstorm new concepts, art direct with ease, produce basic but smart illustrations, own a mastery of typography, work well on deadlines, and know how to marry type and visuals. We design newspapers with nightly deadlines, so we do work evenings.
