Deputy Art Director, Teen Vogue

Overview/Purpose Teen Vogue magazine is currently seeking an enthusiastic Deputy Art Director to join the Creative team. The Deputy Art Director oversees the front and back of book, from initial concepts to photo and design, collaborating with section editors, photo department and fashion department. Manages art department staff. This is a unique opportunity to lead in a collaborative environment where he/she will evolve the visual direction of the magazine under the direction of the Creative Director. Primary Responsibilities • Manage art department staff, workflow, and communication • Constantly communicate with Creative Director • Collaborate confidently with editors, photo, fashion teams on sections and pages • Oversee design for all front and back of book pages (and some COB features) • Oversee daily mockup books and boards • Oversee design consistency across brand platforms, including special projects • Constantly evolve the design of the magazine Desired Skills and Qualifications • BA / BFA in Graphic Design, Visual Arts or Design • At least 5 years of work experience (minimum 2 at a magazine) • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task, as well as the ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm attitude • Extremely organized • Some experience managing a team • An in-depth knowledge of Adobe CS5 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) • Experience with all aspects of print production (including color correction) • Strong love of typography and design required • Interest in fashion and beauty
