ShopSmart Magazine Summer Art Department Intern

Overview: Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports has an exciting opportunity for a ShopSmart Design summer intern. This internship is currently available for summer 2011 in the Yonkers, New York office. Our headquarters in Yonkers is the largest independent educational and consumer product testing center in the world with more than 50 labs. Consumer Reports was recently named "one of the best places to work in Westchester County" by Westchester Magazine.

Join a team dedicated to protecting and informing consumers through various communication channels. This is a wonderful summer opportunity for students interested in gaining invaluable experience in a vibrant organization, working closely on issues affecting consumers. Summer internships will be available to current full-time students (undergraduate and graduate college students) or recent graduates (must be graduating in May 2011). Internship positions will start in late May and run through mid-August. Interns will be paid $15 per hour for a maximum of 35 hours per week for a total of 12 weeks. Academic credits can be applied if applicable (please specify in your application if your internship will be for credit and provide contact information for your academic institution representative).

Qualifications:
- Fine Arts major - preferably in graphic design or photography;
- Interest in magazine publishing, design and photography;
- Strong knowledge of Mac publishing software, InDesign, & Photoshop;
- Well organized, detail oriented and able to handle changing priorities;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must!

Responsibilities: As part of the ShopSmart Design team, interns will provide assistance to the art department including photo research, assisting on shoots, prop shopping, cataloging prop inventory, and some design.
