Mental_floss magazine is seeking an Associate Art Director to join our small but mighty team in New York City. Working closely with the creative director and the editorial team, the Associate Art Director will be responsible for executing bold original design concepts. This includes assigning and directing illustrators and and photographers, managing issue budgets, and all aspects of page production from conception through prep for pre-press. Candidates should have a proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and demonstrated experience in all of the above. At least three years experience in the design department at a consumer magazine preferred. We're looking for someone with an innate understanding of our aesthetic and editorial point of view. We need a strong conceptual thinker, but also someone who is willing to get their hands dirty. There are no egos on our team, and there are also no limits to what we'll let you bring to the table and the ways we'll let you grow in this role. Do your own illustrations?
