If you attended our SPD-U event last Monday, we addressed a question about how to choose pieces for your portfolio. While we did our best to answer the question there, we've got another event this Wednesday that is made just for that question: our Portfolio Workshop.

Bring us your printouts and tearsheets, your class projects and the stuff you make for your friends ... bring it all in one big pile, and we'll help you choose the best pieces and figure out the right way to organize it. Even if you think you've got your portfolio done, bring it along as well as any extra pieces and get our experts' opinions. Sign up now!

Our Pub(lications) Crawl is a day-long event where you'll get to tour the offices of 2 awesome magazines and/or design firms. We've got Bust, Entertainment Weekly, Essence, GQ, and Nylon magazines as well as the Segal Savad design firm all ready to give you behind-the-scenes access. Thanks to all of you who came out for our SPD-U March (Design) Madness event Monday ... we had a great time, and hopefully you did too! In fact, we want to know that for sure, so tell us what you think in our survey here. Our March Madness Pick: SPD-U

Yeah, we know, you're still recovering from getting your Student Design Competition entries done on time ... well, get ready for another jolt of energy at our SPD-U March (Design) Madness event. Next Monday, March 15th, we've got 4 terrific sessions covering all the elements of editorial design.

Seen all those cool posts of old magazines or alternative-newsweeklies on the SPD homepage? Well, those are courtesy of Robert Newman, and he'll be joining Ivylise Simones in a session on creativity. Want to know how all those gorgeous magazine photos happen? Our second session will fill you in on those details, followed by a tips-and-tricks design session courtesy of previous-panelist Stravinski Pierre. And to finish the day, we've got a panel of designers, photo editors and interactive media designers ready to give you the inside scoop on how to get a job.
