Special SPD-U Mini Pub(lications) Crawl: Friday, Feb. 13

Special SPD-U Mini Pub(lications) Crawl: Friday, Feb. 13 As you may know, we do a big office-tour event every fall called the Pub(lications) Crawl where students get the inside scoop at various magazines here in NYC. While the main event is only held in the fall, this spring we are doing a few smaller mini-tours, and we're excited to announce the first one ...

On Friday, February 13, we'll visit the offices of 9Threads Custom Publishing. Award-winning creative directors Nancy Campbell and Trevett McCandliss will give you a special tour and presentation of their offices and work, giving you a sneak peek into how publications get made and how creative photo shoots and designs happen in the real world. Learn more about them here.

This is an exclusive small tour that has room for only 10 students. Registration has closed early as all 10 spots are now full. Look for more special events like this to come in the next few months. Registration is open now to all students, but SPD Student Members get priority registration through midnight Friday, Feb. 6. (If you're not already a member, consider joining now to get FREE access to this event as well as 3 FREE entries in our upcoming Student Design Competition.)

FOR SECURITY REASONS, NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WHO HASN'T SIGNED-UP IN ADVANCE--TICKETS MUST BE RESERVED OR PURCHASED BY MIDNIGHT, THURSDAY, 2/12.

BRING WITH YOU:

• A government-issued photo I.D. for access to the office building

• A notebook for any notes you want to take and a bag since you'll get handouts
• Office-appropriate attire. No need to dress too formally, this isn't an interview ... but keep in mind you'll be in a professional office setting and meeting lots of potential future employers and colleagues.
• Questions for your tour hosts! Don't miss out on this opportunity to really find out what working on magazines is like ... think about all the things you want to know, write 'em down and be ready to ask your hosts about them.

Leave the résumés and portfolios at home ... we'll have a Portfolio Review event later this spring. That said, it's never a bad idea to have business cards handy, in case you want to exchange information with your SPD-U Tour Guides and/or with your fellow tour members.

Please note that registration closes at midnight EST on Thursday night, February 12.
